Job Description:
The UltrasoundVascular Lab Tech (Reg. RDMSRVT) works under the supervision of the Team Leader and Lead Technologist to provide the technical knowledge and expertise to safely and accurately perform ultrasound scans, vascular lab procedures, and other related procedures as requested. Is responsible for taking ultrasound call as necessary. Compiles properly marked films in properly marked jackets. Schedules specific times for exams, considering priority.
Performs other duties as assigned.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
Employees in this position perform the following technical competencies:
Performs diagnostic ultrasound procedures by visualization of anatomy and recording images.
Performs vascular procedure in accordance with the Vascular Lab policy and procedure manual.
Records technical comments for Radiologists and confers with Radiologists as necessary
Helps prepare quality assurance reports for Vascular Lab to determine accuracy, give technical explanation for fallouts, and confers with the Lead Tech and the Medical Director of the Vascular Lab for actions on fallouts.
In the Radiology computer system, ensures charges reflect the exam(s) performed and the exam is Qaed and verified.
Performs limited preventive maintenance on equipment.
Assists the physician in performing invasive ultrasound procedure.
Ensures on-call coverage after regular working hours.
Performs quality assessment procedures for accuracy of results.
Communicates with nursing and physicians regarding clinical procedures.
Follows RESPECT Plus and Core Behavior.
Communicates effectively and respectfully with Team Leader and Lead Technologist.
Performs CPR when required.
Job Qualifications:
EDUCATION: Graduate of an approved Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (DMS) program for abdomen, OB/GYN and vascular ultrasound. Documentation of exams performed or completion of other criteria that fills requirements of eligibility of ARDMS registry.
LICENSURE: RDMS in abdomen or OB/GYN or obtainment of either registration within 15 months of date of hire.
Registered Technologists will need to have RVT or CCI registries within 20 months of date of hire.
Registered Technologists can remain employed if technologist is actively pursuing the stated registries (by sitting for exams every 3 months) for a period no longer than 36 months.
BLS certification required.
EXPERIENCE: 1 year of experience preferred.
ESSENTIAL TECHNICAL/MOTOR SKILLS: Inputting data, calibrating equipment, answering telephone, speaking clearly, manipulating small items, fine motor skills, knowledge of body mechanics and CPR. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Effective communication skills and ability to interact with patients, staff, visitors, physicians, etc. Must work well as a team member.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Walking, pushing, pulling, lifting 35 lbs., and restraining, moving equipment, standing, kneeling.
ESSENTIAL MENTAL ABILITIES: Interpret data, manipulate numbers, calculate, explain, adaptability.
ESSENTIAL SENSORY REQUIREMENTS: Visual skills, hear, distinguish color.
EXPOSURE TO HAZARDS: Radiation, body fluids, needle sticks, hazardous materials.
OTHER: Employee must demonstrate and maintain current knowledge and skill in providing appropriate care for patients in the following age group(s): Geriatric, Adult, Young Adult, Pediatric and Neonatal.
