Job Description:
Works under the supervision of the Manager-Coding. The Data Entry Clerk receives encounters daily from the coders. The Data Entry Clerk sorts the encounters and is responsible for entering all charges and appropriate information on encounter form into the AFM System. The Data Entry Clerk ensures that transactions balance with encounters and payment batches. The Data Entry Clerk is responsible for completing batches daily. The Data Entry Clerk e-mails reports to manager and PFS as required.

Performs other duties as assigned.

TECHNICALCOMPETENCIES

Employee in this position perform the following technical competencies:
  • Ensures the effective handling and daily working of all encounter forms.
  • Responds to requests for insurance denials to make appropriate changes.
  • Reverses duplicate charges and bundled codes per insurance carrier requirements.
  • Enters ICD-9, CPT, HCPCS codes into AFM and PFM system with 98% accuracy.
  • Completes bill edits reports and no charge reports daily.
  • Retrieves clinical information from HannaH as requested by coder.
  • Stores completed encounters per departmentclinic process.
  • Monitors outstanding charges due to credentialing andor new service codes and reports to manager monthly.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications:

EDUCATION:
High school graduate or GED.

LICENSURE:
None.

EXPERIENCE:
Alpha proficiency, run copier, computer skills, data entry proficiency.

ESSENTIAL TECHNICAL/MOTOR SKILLS:
Inputting data, speaking clearly, calibrating equipment, answering phone, precise hand/eye coordination, fine motor skills, good writing skills.

INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
Must be courteous; work in a professional, caring manner with internal and external customers; have the ability to work with interruptions, and flexibility in hours and workflow, foster teamwork and promote service and quality in everything.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Assembling, kneeling, crouching, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, operating, lifting 10 lbs.

ESSENTIAL MENTAL ABILITIES:
Interpret data, organizational skills, comprehend. Follow rules/instructions. Adaptability, short and long-term memory, concentration/alertness, reading.

ESSENTIAL SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:
Visual skills, hearing, feeling, distinguish colors, manual dexterity.
