Job Description:
The LPN- IV Certified performs a wide variety of patient care activities and accommodative services for ambulatory care clinic patients. Provides assistance to the physician(s) in the delivery of comprehensive medical services.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Employees in this position perform the following technical competencies:
Performs general nursing care to patients. Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with medical standards established by the Heartland Clinic physician.
Assists with the preparation of equipment and aids physician during treatment, examination, and testing of patients.
Observes, records, and reports patient's condition to drugs and treatments to physician(s). Communicates follow-up instructions to patients as directed by physician.
Greets patients and prepares them for physician examination and treatment. Screens patients for appropriate information and instructs them in collections of samples for testing.
Arranges for patient referral testing at other facilities or specialty care.
Responds to and refers incoming telephone inquiries from patients and other parties. Instructs patients and family regarding medications and treatment instructions.
Formulates and updates patient care plans. Orders, prepares and inspects patients charts. Posts tests and exam results.
Stocks exam rooms and treatment areas. Communicates with Lead Nurse or Clinical Coordinator regarding need for supplies to be ordered.
Participate in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations.
Attends departmental meeting and participates in committees as requested.
Maintains patient confidentiality.
Documents all assessments, treatments, procedures and medications in medical record or electronic paper per standard.
Complies with all Regulatory agencies, directives, standards and regulations.
Job Qualifications:
EDUCATION: Graduation from an accredited school of practical nursing.
LICENSURE: Valid state license to practice nursing with IV Certification. BCLS certification.
EXPERIENCE: One (1) year in a physician office preferred.
ESSENTIAL TECHNICIAN/MOTOR SKILLS: Fine motor skills required, eyehand coordination, walk, ability to speak clearly, hear answer phone, data entry.
INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Displays a friendly, positive attitude and communicates with patients, families, physicians and co-workers in a professional manner. Ability to communicate in verbally and written.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must move, kneel, crouch, stoop, reach, stand, push, pull, and lift. Must follow good body mechanics.
ESSENTIAL MENTAL ABILITIES: Ability to collect thorough information regarding patient's condition and evaluate effects of care; must be able to visually inspect patient's condition. Problem solve, manipulate numbers, adaptability, interpret data, calculate, comprehend, understand, explain, assess, evaluate short term and long term memory.
ESSENTIAL SENSORY REQUIREMENTS: Ability to visually assess patient condition; must be able to communicate with patient in order to assess condition and evaluate effects of care. Visual, hearing, feeling, smell.
EXPOSURE TO HAZARDS: Needles, cuts, back injury, body fluids, blood, punctures, scratches, physical injury from combative patients, radiation exposure, blood products, road and weather hazards when driving required. Infection/disease exposure from
patients, visitors, and co-workers.
