Job Description:
The Manager - Medical Center Coding works under the supervision of the Team Leader. The Manager - Medical Center Coding will supervise coding and documentation improvement and coding and will be responsible for monitoring coding compliance.
Performs other duties as assigned.

TECHNICALCOMPETENCIES
Employee in this position perform the following technical competencies:
Responsible for supervising coders , coding clerk, and documentation specialists in medical center.
Monitors coding compliance/quality/productivity.
Presents training sessions, including lecturing, administering and evaluating proficiency.
Responsible for presenting coding inservices and establishing training objectives; provides retraining as needed.
Performs quality/process improvements.
Responsible for keeping up to date on reimbursement including MS-DRG's, APC's and modifiers. Responsible for communicating to staff and physicians.
Performs coding and documentation specialist functions as needed.
Provides support of/leads teams in regards to training needs and changes in work
processes.
Oversees the process of reviewing and responding to denials, audits.
Ensures competencies are completed for staff.
Designs, plans, and implements coding processes; aligns computer systems.
Computes staffing, scheduling, and payroll.
Solicit and evaluates customer feedback in order to identify prioritize improvement projects.
Oversees coding query process and documentation improvement.
Works closely with HIS Medical Director to ensure documentation accurate and timely.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications:
EDUCATION:
High School diploma.
LICENSURE:
Certification RHIA, RHIT, CCS, or CPC-H is required or equivalent experience.
EXPERIENCE:
3 years coding experience preferably at management level. Experience with PC usage.
ESSENTIAL TECHNICAL/MOTOR SKILLS:
Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of staff and leadership, the public, and agency representatives. Must be able to operate a personal computer and standard office equipment.
INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
Must possess excellent oral and written communications skills and present a positive image for the organization. Must be motivated, able to work independently, be a strong facilitator and have excellent follow through skills. Must be able to interact with people in a professional, diplomatic, and sensitive manner and ensure that appropriate confidentiality is maintained.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Moving, walking, balancing, kneeling, crouching, stooping, reaching, standing, pushing, pulling, lifting, and restraining.
ESSENTIAL MENTAL ABILITIES:
Must be able to interpret data and prepare budgets. Organizational skills to schedule meetings and meet deadlines. Evaluate performance of staff. Able to manage multiple priorities. Interpret policies and procedures. Must be able to identify and measure departmental quality goals.
ESSENTIAL SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to communicate via telephone and in person. Must be able to review reports and organization goals for quality and accuracy. Communicate effectively with all levels of staff and customers.
EXPOSURE TO HAZARDS:
Eye and neck strain.
