Job Description:
The Occupational Therapist works under the supervision of Team Leader. Evaluates, plans and implements treatment programs for the rehabilitation of patients, as directed by a physician, using approved treatment procedures. Provides patient/family education. Participates in family conferences. Responsible for all necessary documentation as required by accepted medical guidelines.

Performs other duties as assigned.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
Employee in this position perform the following technical competencies:
Evaluates patients referred by physicians.

Establishes goals that maximize the patient's recovery.

Plans a treatment program, using appropriate treatment procedures that will best accomplish the established goals.

Implements the treatment program using approved procedures.

Documents treatment procedures and the patient's response to them, on a regular basis.

Responsible for treatment procedures, documentation, and supervision of occupational therapy assistants, occupational therapy students, and Rehab Aide.

Participates in staff meetings, family conferences and interdisciplinary team conferences.
Participates in continual process improvement.

FIM certification is applicable in Acute Rehab Unit.

Job Qualifications:
EDUCATION:
Graduate of accredited occupational therapy school with Bachelor of Science/ARTS.

LICENSURE:
Licensure in the State of Missouri. BLS certification required.

EXPERIENCE:
None

ESSENTIAL TECHNICAL/MOTOR SKILLS:
Inputting data, speaking clearly, manipulating small objects and equipment, fine motor skills.

INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
Normal social interactive skills.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Moving, standing, walking, bending, pushing, balancing, reaching, lifting.

ESSENTIAL MENTAL ABILITIES:
Synthesizing, analyzing, explaining, interpreting data, forecasting, manipulating number, organizational skills.

ESSENTIAL SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:
Visual skills, feeling and tactile skills.

EXPOSURE TO HAZARDS:
Body fluids and extreme heat.
