Job Description:
The CT Technologist works under the supervision of the Team Leader and Lead Technologist in Radiology. Performs professional CT service to patients, utilizing knowledge and equipment to perform clinical procedures to aid physicians in diagnosis.
Performs other duties as assigned.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
Employee in this position perform the following technical competencies:
Performs clinical procedures in CT services and uses equipment to optimize diagnostic images. Follows established protocols and Radiologist instructions while performing exams.
Communicates with the patient to obtain clinical history and prepare the patient for the procedure.
Assist the physician in performing invasive CT scan procedures.
Administers contrast material.
Record patient information and all documentation including charges.
Assists with orientation and training of students and new staff members.
Insures on-call coverage after regular working hours. Must be able to meet a 20-minute response time.
Maintains organized work area including proper inventory of supplies.
Performs CPR when required
Performs preceptor responsibilities as assigned.
Communicates effectively and respectfully with Team Leader and Lead Technologist.
Follows RESPECT Plus and Core Behaviors.
Job Qualifications:
EDUCATION: Completion of AMA approved program in Radiologic Technology.
LICENSURE: Registered by American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Pass the C.T. Registry examination within 18 months of clinical training completion. BLS certified.
EXPERIENCE: Six months' experience in CT preferred.
ESSENTIAL TECHNICAL/MOTOR SKILLS: Inputting data, calibrating equipment, answering telephone, speaking clearly, manipulating small items, fine motor skills, knowledge of body mechanics and CPR. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Effective communication skills and ability to interact with patients, staff, visitors, physicians, etc. Must work well as a team member.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Walking, pushing, pulling, heavy lifting, restraining, standing, kneeling, moving equipment, speaking.
ESSENTIAL MENTAL ABILITIES: Manipulate numbers, interpret data, explain, assess, adaptability, reading, and organizational skills.
ESSENTIAL SENSORY REQUIREMENTS: Visual skills, hearing and speaking.
EXPOSURE TO HAZARDS: Radiation, body fluids, needle sticks, hazardous material
OTHER: Employees must demonstrate and maintain current knowledge and skill in providing appropriate care for patients in all age groups.
