Job Description:
The role of the Vice President-Neuromusculoskeletal Services is to provide consistently high quality service through the incorporating continual process improvement into the work structures designed to provide excellent patient care. The Vice President's role is to facilitate an approach that brings together physician leadership, business process and performance improvement process with service teams to improve the delivery of care to the appropriate patient population. The Vice President is responsible for all functions of the service area enterprise and for the teams formed to improve cross-functional processes. The role is designed to identify gaps and barriers in the processes of care delivery and to coordinate actions to remove gaps and barriers in the process of improvements. In this manner, the role will fill a strong strategic position in developing systematic care across Service lines and a strong tactical role of insuring that work processes are designed to produce high quality care at the lowest possible cost. The Vice President will coach and mentor team leaders and team members.

The SL- Neuromusculoskeletal will be responsive to the following:

Acute Rehabilitation
Outpatient Therapy
Inpatient Therapy
Inpatient Ortho Unit
Inpatient Neuro Unit and Neurosurgery
Arthritis Center
Pain Center
Pain Initiative

Focus will be given to insure that all negotiated levels of service for each area are met. Further, the Vice President will insure that techniques for measurement of improvements are benchmarked within Similarities of Service. The Voce President is accountable for full-absorbed costs for Similarities of Service. The nature of full-absorbed costs includes fixed and variable costs that are incurred in each part of the system that provides care to the appropriate patient population. The Vice President will facilitate the development of work teams and cross-functional teams within the scope of all service lines.

The scope of the role includes helping each team member develop and follow a personal education plan that addresses achievement levels for both technical and behavior based competencies. Additionally, the scope of the role includes the negotiating and planning resources necessary to meet the expected level of service from each Process team.

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES
Bringing all resources, in both the Process teams, and the Service teams, to bear for the improvement of processes key to high quality clinical outcomes, quality of service, satisfaction scores (patient, physician and employee) and financial standards.

Grow the service line and increase profitability. Accountability of full absorbed costs by component of Similarities of Service.

Develops the infrastructure for each Service enterprise to support continuous quality improvement based on input from patient surveys, employee surveys and physician surveys.

Creates a vision for the Team Leader's development, which includes goal setting and identifying gaps in the delivery of care that can be reduced through process improvement.

Communicates collaboratively to all customer groups to insure that processes and systems used in Service areas are thoroughly understood.

Participates in the development of systems that support the provision of patient care.

Provides resources for Team Leaders to design improvements that focus on one high level of care for the patient populations served by each service team.

Operational planning for Heartland and the service line.

A high expectation that the service, quality and outcome of the service teams will be based on fully absorbed costs. Both fixed and variable costs of services provided will be incorporated in the measurement of all process improvements.

Developing business plans for each component of service line.

Knowledgeable about technology trends in healthcare and service line.

Anticipate and forecast improvements needed in patient care and service line.

Responsible for patient safety.

Implements best practices in service line.

Develop physician leadership in service line. Facilitate physician relations.

Partners with physician administrative leader to achieve mutual goals for service line; views as peers.

Execute clinical process improvements.

Respond to customer (physician, leaders, employee's) issues timely.

Follow RESPECT at all times.

Forecast capital needs.

Ability to prioritize key operational activities.

Round on customers weekly.

Understand and forecast service line revenue streams.

Meet regulatory requirements and standards.

Teaches quality system and organizational architecture to Team Leaders and physicians.

Develop yearly service line plans and goals for cost, quality and service.

Job Qualifications:
EDUCATION: Masters Degree in a clinical or health care management discipline required.

LICENSURE: Appropriately licensed/registered or certified as required by health care field.

EXPERIENCE: Minimum of five years of management/leadership experience required. Previous experience in rehab highly preferred.

ESSENTIAL TECHNICAL/MOTOR SKILLS: The incumbent will possess a set of skills including, but not limited to team leadership, conflict resolution, listening skills, the ability to select and develop a competent team leader staff, and the flexibility to meet the changing needs of the enterprise. The successful incumbent will maintain skills in process improvement and change management through knowledge of the clinical and technical skills needed to meet high quality outcomes.

INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Self-confident individual with a strong drive to achieve superior results. Skills in process improvement and change management. Skills to develop processes to be used to respond to all customer groups. Possess excellent oral, written, and presentation communication skills.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Moving, walking, balancing, kneeling, crouching, stooping, reaching, standing, pushing, pulling, lifting, and restraining.

ESSENTIAL MENTAL ABILITIES: The incumbent will possess a set of skills including, but not limited to forecasting, analyzing, synthesizing, explaining, adapting, comprehending, interpreting data, organizational skills, speaking in front of groups, team leadership, conflict resolution, listening skills, the ability to select and develop a competent team leader staff, and the flexibility to meet the changing needs of the enterprise, and analytical skills. The successful incumbent will maintain skills in process improvement and change management.

ESSENTIAL SENSORY REQUIREMENTS: Hearing, visual skills.

EXPOSURE TO HAZARDS: Limited exposure.
