Position Summary:
This position is responsible for identifying, implementing and maintaining information technology, systems and processes throughout the organization by directing the Information Systems department through input from customers, users, managers and the executive team.
Essential Position Functions and Responsibilities:
1. Develop and manage departmental budgets that assure the human and technical resources necessary for the company to grow and maximize profitability.
2. Responsible for management and development of high caliber technical staff.
3. Analyze business process and workflows, identify and eliminate redundancies, improve users’ efficiencies by designing, testing, implementing and supporting software and hardware technologies and processes.
4. Identify, define, strategize and utilize staff’s skills, talents and specialties to meet and exceed Hilldrup’s Information Systems needs and goals by providing internal and external training, career pathing, regular performance reviews and motivating individually and collectively.
5. Ensure all equipment and systems are operational and that all software systems and applications are functioning properly including networks, workstations, servers, operating systems and software applications by monitoring logs, applying patches and updates, and ensuring operation within vendor specifications.
6. Ensure company data has high availability and reliability and excellent security by utilizing best practices to maintain, test and support hardware and software systems with appropriate network bandwidth, redundant systems, backup plans, disaster recovery plans, and high quality equipment.
7. Ensure that company communications systems including, but not limited to, internet, telephony, email and mobile communications are operational at all times.
8. Manage, implement and maintain Microsoft Windows applications and systems including, but not limited to, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008, Microsoft Office and Microsoft Exchange.
9. Responsible for network operations including troubleshooting connectivity issues, installing and configuring routers, and user management.
10. Communicate with executive team continuously to assess IT needs, budget and receive approval for expenditures by providing value assessment.
11. Manage technology inventory including procurement and disposal.
12. Research and make recommendations on hardware and software purchases and ensure compliance with all licensing agreements. Negotiate with vendors on behalf of the company to ensure cost-effective purchasing decisions.
13. Responsible for discovery, mitigation, documentation and proactive communication of information technology risks throughout the entire organization.
14. Ensures end-user training and documentation is provided for company personnel on software applications.
15. Maintain knowledge on current technology by reading technology periodicals, evaluating new technologies, attending technology conferences, seminars, webinars and training sessions.
16. Provide customers with accurate, reliable and secure data transparency.
17. Ensure that internal user issues are resolved correctly and in a timely manner by managing help desk and handling escalation.
Minimum Education and Experience:
- B.S. in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field
- 5+ years experience in hands-on information technology design, implementation and maintenance
- 3+ years supervision and technical direction of IT staff
- Proven track record of implementing software and hardware systems within a corporate environment
- Working knowledge of Microsoft operating systems, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft SQL Server, SQL Reporting Services and Active Directory
- Knowledge of and experience in LAN/WAN, network peripherals, firewalls, Internet Information Services, spam and antivirus software and hardware, and general computer hardware
Minimum Required Skills
- Excellent problem identification and solving ability
- Excellent troubleshooting skills especially technical and relating to business process workflows
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong leadership and managerial experience and knowledge
- Must be hands-on when necessary
- Extremely competent and professional with ability to communicate with high level executives as well as end users
