Are you looking for a strong clinical experience in a multi-service agency that offers extensive training, supervision, and growth opportunities?

We are looking for passionate and committed interns who are open and ready to learn. Potential Internship Opportunities- Please note some of these internships are paid depending on program and level of the students training. This will be discussed during the interview process.


Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic

You will work with a team comprised of a psychiatrist, Nurse Practitioner, Nurses, Clinicians, and recovery coaches to implement the Best Practice Model to individuals with Substance Use Disorders (SUDs) and Behavioral Heal needs. Training Opportunities: Diagnostic Assessments, Individual Therapy and Group Treatment (Population - Adults and young adults with Substance Use Disorders). This is a Substance Abuse Mental Health Service Administration (SAMHSA) funded National Initiative to provide comprehensive services.


Care Coordinator

Be part of a service team for children who have multiple support services (e.g., schools, courts, behavioral health providers) to coordinate care support the family and identify gaps in care. Training Opportunities: Facilitating Family Meetings, assessing youth and family's needs, finding and connecting youth and families to community resources. (Population - Children and Families with behavioral health needs)


Community Based Family Services

Work as part of a team to support youth and families in the community to develop coping skills, life skills and implement best practice interventions. Training Opportunities: Work with a Master's clinician to complete assessments, treatment planning, and clinical services. (Population - Children and Families)


Residential Services

Be part of a residential team that provides intensive supports to adolescents who are not able to live at home. Training Opportunities: Work with a treatment team to support adolescents experiencing crisis situations, complete assessments, coordinate activities, facilitate groups and offer individual support. (Population - Adolescents)


Recovery Centers - Bachelor's Level Students encouraged to apply

The Peer Recovery Centers are support services that respect all paths to recovery. Training Opportunities: provide peer support, groups, and wellness plans (lived experience is required). (Population - Adults)


First Steps Together

This program provides intensive recovery supports to women with Substance Exposed Newborns (SEN). Training Opportunities: work with a team of clinicians and recovery coach's who provide direct intensive support to support the recovery process of the parent(s) and ensures that the needs of the newborn are being addressed. (Population - Mothers with Newborns)


Family Resource Center(s)

The Family Resource Centers provide immediate support to youth and families that need resources, referrals and emergency clinical supports. Training Opportunities: Complete assessments, develop service plans, work with courts and state systems to provide resources and supports for youth and families. (Population - Children and Families)


Prevention Services

The Prevention Department at Bay State Community Services manages several community based prevention grants, funded by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and other government agencies, in the areas of youth substance use prevention, tobacco prevention, and overdose prevention. We work with community partners to promote health and well-being through local policy, practice, systems, and/or environmental changes. We strive to apply a racial equity and social justice lens throughout our work. Our team works to build relationships with community partners, conduct needs assessments and develop strategic plans, implement programs and social marketing campaigns, and conduct evaluations.


Potential interns could be skilled in the following areas: community organizing and engagement, community health, public health or macro social work, racial equity and social justice, health communications, and evaluation.


.Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Psychology, Human Services or any closely related field
  • Strong Computer Skills
  • Experience with systems (e.g. DMH, EEC, DCF) preferred but not required
  • Experience working with youth and families
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Additional skills with spoken and written languages are desirable
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule
