Position Overview:

Under the direction of the Sales Inventory & Operations Planning Manager, the Senior Supply Chain Buyer will be responsible for planning and procuring components and/or finished product which support MRP requirements based on production schedules and customer requirements. Major duties include purchasing, planning, transportation, forecasting, and inventory management functions to support the entire supply chain. This role requires analysis of MRP requirements, negotiation with suppliers, PO placement, and follow-up of delivery dates. Duties are performed in accordance with company policies and procedures. This is a non-supervisory position.



Responsibilities:

Planning (30%):

  • Manage production process from order entry to shipment of product to meet customer requirements
  • Create and manage weekly capacity planning reports for assembly
  • Actively participate as a cross functional team member representing the Operations department

Purchasing (30%):

  • Convert MRP requirements to regular purchase orders ensuring products are produced on time and delivered to customers or the warehouse according to planned dates
  • Provide regular purchase orders to our factories and 3rd party vendors to ensure products are produced on time and delivered to customers or our warehouses per planned dates
  • Track shipped orders and report estimated arrival dates to Accounting, Logistics, Warehouse, and Sales Teams
  • Analyze and revise future shipment plans as needed, includes expediting, delaying, or cancelling orders
  • Negotiate the best total cost solution with 3rd party vendors

Data Integrity (10%):

  • Create materials, BOMs, and production orders in SAP
  • Communicate needs to various vendors, ensuring custom products are completed on time
  • Identify and correct data integrity issues through sustainable business practices

Inventory Management (10%):

  • Analyze and revise future shipment plans as needed: includes expediting, delaying, or cancelling orders
  • Make recommendations; work to reduce aged product
  • Create transfer orders to improve inventory levels in all warehouses, focusing on lowering inventory and increasing fulfillment
  • Optimize product and component inventory levels to coincide with demand and lead time changes
  • Set up new products and coordinate with internal customers on phase in/phase out planning of all items
  • Maintain strong attention to detail to ensure integrity of product attributes in master data
  • Assist with the maintenance of finished product forecasts, keeping in line with sales and financial plans
  • Assist with finished goods and/or parts planning; evaluate slow moving parts and scrap if necessary, work with Quality department to evaluate parts needs based on monthly work plans and place appropriate orders, review usage trends and adjust the re-order level for warranty parts
  • Work with the warehouse, logistics, refurb, and assembly departments on other projects related to inventory management
  • Communicate regularly with management and other internal teams about inventory availability
  • Communicate regularly with management and sales team regarding built inventory availability
  • Coordinate with product and sales team on phase in/phase out planning of all inventory
  • Review usage trends and adjust re-order levels for production parts

Reporting (10%):

  • Responsible for updating existing reports and developing new ones
  • Responsible for tracking departmental performance metrics
  • Assist in parts planning, evaluating slow moving parts and scrapping if necessary
  • Communicate with Quality department regarding parts needs based on monthly work plans
  • Work closely with warehouse, logistics, refurb, and assembly departments on projects related to inventory management
  • Complete and maintain reports and metrics for analysis and distribution to staff and management

Other (10%):

  • Actively participate in cross functional meetings when required
  • Work closely with all internal and external suppliers and vendors
  • Maintain work area to 5S standards as posted in work area
  • Promote a positive team atmosphere with co-workers
  • Maintain SOPs (Standard Operating Procedure) for all duties and tasks

Marginal Job Functions:

.Requirements:


Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree (Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering) Required
  • APICS CPIM Certification preferred
  • Lean Six Sigma certification preferred

Experience:

  • 10+ years' experience in Supply Chain Management in manufacturing environment preferred
  • History of proven Supply Chain experience and success with preference to procurement
  • Aptitude for self-management, taking initiative, and problem solving
  • Ability to communicate well both verbally and written with all levels of personnel and management
  • Strong multi-tasking, prioritization, and organization skills required

Other Requirements:

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (knowledge of pivot tables, v-lookup, auto filers, etc.) Required
  • Well versed with Microsoft Office Suite
  • SAP, Access, statistical tools, data mining/reporting tools preferred
  • Ability to analyze and organize large amounts of data
  • Minimal domestic, local and international travel may be required (customer visits, factory visits)

  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
