Overview

The Engineering & Environmental Services Division of The H&K Group, Inc. is seeking a self-motivated, organized, competent and professional individual knowledgeable in environmental sciences as they pertain to environmental, regulation, permitting and compliance related to construction and mining related projects.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Participates in environmental studies, interprets research data, prepares environmental reports and maps and provides recommendations for action.

Responsible for collection, analysis, interpretation and reporting soil, water, air, waste and industrial hygiene related sampling at mining and construction operations as well as industrial, commercial and residential sites to ensure compliance with Loal, State and Federal regulations.

Responsible for performing site inspections for compliance with Federal, State and Local permits including but not limited to Solid Waste Management, SPCC/PPC, EPCRA/SARA, NPDES, E&S, Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans, ACT 2, Chapter 110 Water Reporting, Surface Mining Permits, and Management of Fill.

Responsible for preparation of Federal, State and Local permits as they relate to environmental regulations.

Assist with the development of sampling plans, materials handling plans, health and safety plans, participation and responses to regulatory inspections and correspondence, react and assist with spill response or emergency response situations.

Other duties may be assigned.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university;

Current HAZWOPER Training a plus

NESHAP Training a plus

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write technical reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, dimensions, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, geometry and trigonometry.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Equipment/Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Design software; GIS Software; Internet software; Project Management software and Word Processing software.

The work environment includes both the office and field. While performing the field duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; repetitive lifting of up to 50 lbs, fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
