Position Summary:

This position is responsible for providing crisis services to all age groups, either on site, by phone, or in hospital setting during regular work hours.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Conduct initial assessment of crisis patients, provide interventions, and formulate disposition.
  • Manage crisis phone calls.
  • Arrange case management services related to crisis interventions.
  • Assist in completion of contact forms on all telephone and walk-in contacts.
  • Provide consultation to Access Center staff.
  • Assist with inpatient admissions during regular business hours.
  • Assist psychiatric-on-call with initial evaluations.
  • Perform, facilitate or assist with consultation in the Union Hospital Emergency Room or on hospital floors.
  • Ability to demonstrate competent use of Profiler.
  • Participate in medication clinics in outpatient department.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Three years experience in crisis services.
  • MS, MA in nursing, psychology/related field or MSW required.
  • Experience across age groups is preferred.
  • Demonstrate ability to be consumer sensitive and to work effectively in stressful situations is necessary.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Maintain current American Red Cross CPR and First Aid certifications
  • Maintain current crisis prevention/intervention certification

  • Exposure to disturbed and potentially aggressive patients.
  • Standing, walking, bending, stooping as required to provide individualized patient care.
  • Possesses strength necessary to direct and assist in implementation of CPI interventions.

Work Environment:

Work is performed in a comfortable physical environment under pressure of completing tasks, time demands and frequent interruptions.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Completion of tuberculin screening no later than three days prior to first day of employment and annually thereafter
  • Completion of a pre-employment drug screening and completion of post-employment drug or alcohol tests upon reasonable suspicion of use.
  • Completion of Center-wide orientation and ALL required paperwork prior to reporting for work
  • Completion of HCI training modules and Professional Development Plan.
  • Demonstrated computer literacy through successful completion of pre-employment testing may be required.
  • Completion of HCI Commitment to Quality training
  • Attendance at all mandatory staff development and training
  • Successful completion of a six month on the job orientation period
  • Participation in payroll electronic deposit
  • Adherence to Compliance Program Plan
  • Satisfactory reference and background investigation checks.
