Qualifications:

Required:

Applications Analyst I:
•Experience and/or training with healthcare information systems and terminology

Applications Analyst II:
In addition to the above, the Applications Analyst II will have:
•Minimum of two (2) years experience with the application, module or equivalent system as assigned
•Advanced knowledge of the assigned application in at least one functional area (e.g. orders, materials management, etc.)

Applications Analyst III:
In addition to the above, the Applications Analyst III will have:
•Minimum five (5) years experience with the application, module or equivalent system as assigned
•Advanced knowledge of the assigned application in multiple functional areas
•Expert knowledge of the assigned application in at least one functional area

Lead:
In addition to the above,, the Applications Analyst Lead will have:
•Minimum one (1) year experience in an Applications department, preferably within an acute hospital environment
•Minimum one (1) year experience managing medium to large projects

Preferred:
•Bachelor’s degree preferred

Applications Analyst I:
•Three years experience with Eclipsys SCM, core build experience.

Applications Analyst II and III:
•All prior level, plus ability to assist junior staff with completion of assigned tasks.

Job Description:
The Applications Analyst is responsible for configuring, testing, implementing and supporting the clinical, financial, administrative and other healthcare information systems used for the delivery of patient care and other supporting functions of the organization. These systems include but are not limited to:
•Clinical applications such as documentation, orders/results, Emergency Department (ED) and Pharmacy on Eclipsys Sunrise Clinical Manager
•Ancillary applications such as lab, radiology and cardiology
•Revenue Cycle applications such as patient access and billing
•Financial Applications such as materials management, payroll and human resources
•Other IT applications including facilities and help desk

Essential Functions:
•Collaborate with key stakeholders, end users and other members of the business, patient care and Information Technology teams to optimize system configuration, function and access.
•Evaluate customer requests for system changes, data retrieval requests, system performance problems and optimization opportunities, and will participate in the timely resolution of these activities.
•Works together with clinical and business advisory groups to provide system solutions that support and enhance the adoption of the electronic medical record and its supporting components.
•Assuring the Information Technologies (IT) needs support the goals and objectives of the customer as well as the business needs of Hoag Hospital (Hoag).
•Managing system concerns for the end-users.
•Building and maintaining all system dictionaries, profiles, tables and other configuration points.
•Troubleshooting and assisting with the resolution of application errors and other system issues.
•Identifying and managing system enhancement requests.
•Preparing for and participating in system design and/or remediation sessions.
•Testing the system, including any configurations, customizations and new releases, prior to production implementation.
•Working with end-users and the reporting team to assist with the design and testing of system reports.
•Communicating system changes to the end users and training staff.
•Assisting with the development of ongoing maintenance support procedures.
•Working with vendor relations staff in communicating and working with the information system vendors.
•Leading and/or participating in small to medium sized projects.
•Position may require local travel between various Hoag locations and its affiliates
•Position may require participation in 24/7 department on-call program. On-call employees are required to carry a department issued phone or pager, respond to calls within 15 minutes, troubleshoot problem and provide services off-site as needed and be available to provide services on-site as needed within 1 ½ hours of being called or paged to respond
•Position may require participating in meetings outside of normal business hours including occasional evenings and/or weekends.
