Job Description
Job Summary: Work with an engagement team to provide quality tax services to clients in various industries, including manufacturing, oil and gas, insurance, health care, wholesale/distribution, financial institution, governmental and nonprofit companies

  • Prepare federal and state tax returns for business and individual clients
  • Prepare working trial balances, adjusting journal entries, maintain property and equipment records, and calculate depreciation and amortization for tax returns
  • Apply general tax rules and concepts to returns
  • Begin to develop tax research and planning skills, including the ability to identify, analyze and articulate problems and opportunities, and propose solutions
  • Effectively communicate results, both internally and externally on project and client information
  • Develop an understanding of client objectives and maximize the value of the service we provide with respect to attaining those objectives
  • Develop and maintain understanding of all relevant computer software applications and how they might best be used to promote efficient use of time
  • Maintain and expand knowledge of tax law through review of periodicals and participation in required Firm continuing education meetings
  • Obtain understanding of the economics of job performance by reviewing and working within Firm operational budgets and billing constraints
  • Develop time management skills and identify process improvement opportunities
  • Attend and participate in tax training as assigned by management
  • Expected level of time worked is 40 50 hours per week
  • Compliance to the Firms quality control standards
  • Understands key elements of client care and service
  • Gains an understanding of all HoganTaylor services
  • Completion of HT internship program which consists of training, site visits, peer networking, and a presentation to management.

Required Skills


  • Pursuing education requirements to sit for the CPA exam
  • Completed Intermediate Accounting I by time of start
  • Proficient in use of computers and basic software applications
  • Ability to perform under time-pressures and meet deadlines


While performing the duties of this job the employee will regularly be required to sit, stand, reach, walk, drive, kneel, crouch, crawl and lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.
