Bookkeeper / Accountant - Part Time-Day Shift

Job Location: Columbia, MD

Summary
HR Anew is a human resources consulting and professional services firm located in Columbia, MD. We help employers recruit, educate, and retain employees.

Reports to the President; position could transition to a full time position within six months.

Maintain and record business transactions. Prepares balance sheets, profit and loss statements and other reports. Responsibilities also include analyzing trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses. Reports organization’s finances to management, and others as requested; and offers recommendations about resource utilization, tax strategies, and assumptions underlying budget forecasts.
  • Bookkeeping services/maintaining records of all business transactions.
  • General ledger balancing and report preparation.
  • Establish and maintain accounting principles, practices, procedures, and initiatives.
  • Prepare financial reports, present findings, and recommendations to President (and others as requested).
  • Prepare balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports.
  • Analyze trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses.
  • Offer suggestions about resource utilization, tax strategies, and assumptions underlying budget forecasts.
  • Develop a budget and forecast.
  • Process semi-monthly payroll and associates tasks.
  • Reconcile accounting system.
  • Manage accounts payables, receivables, and general ledger functions.
  • Assist with cost proposals.
  • Establish and implement operation procedures, practices, and system for accounting/finance function.
  • Other bookkeeping/accounting/financial related responsibilities as appropriate.
3 years’ of experience and bachelor’s degree in the accounting or finance field (government contracting experience highly desired); education may be substituted for equivalent work experience. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Able to multi-task and must have good judgment and outstanding interpersonal skills.
