We are currently seeking highly experienced and motivated part-time/PRN/temporary Grant Reviewers to embark on an exciting new opportunity with a federal government entity that remains at the forefront of leading national initiatives to provide underserved communities with access to affordable financial services.
Responsibilities and Duties:
• Review grant applications using the federal government agency’s established review criteria, including such factors as prior performance of the applicant in funding eligible activities, raising and managing investor funds; capacity, skills, and experience of the management team, and community impact of the expected investments.
• Deliver completed grant reviews within established timelines and ensure they meet all required quality assurance established standards.
• Provide funding approval recommendations.
• Develop an in-depth knowledge base of this federal program’s requirements and processes.
• Review grants applications between May and June 2009.
Requirements:
• A demonstrated subject-matter expert with knowledge, skills, experience, and/or abilities in community development finance, including expertise in different types of financial institutions (e.g. loan funds, credit unions, banks and venture capital funds) and different types of community development activities (e.g. real estate development, community facilities development, small business lending, etc).
(*Please note: Prospective candidates for these positions are not required to possess subject matter expertise in all of the aforementioned financial disciplines, but must possess expertise in at least one. Grant Reviewers will be assigned to a review team that most strongly correlates with their subject matter experience.)
• Selected candidates must be available to attend a 2-day orientation session on May 19 & 20, 2009 in Arlington, VA for the purposes of an overview of the program’s application review process, evaluation criteria, and becoming oriented with the program’s management and support team. (* Please note: Subsequently all application reviews will be completed remotely from the Grant Reviewer’s designated location, using a government web-based review tool.)
• Knowledge of local and federal governing compliance regulations.
• Reviewers will be required to complete their assigned reviews on a specified timeline.
• Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Excellent communications skills (both oral and written).
• Ideal candidate will possess superior time management, business- writing/ editing, organization, and workload prioritization skills.
