Description: This position will be part-time to provide security for an office in a Federal facility in Huron, SD. This position is approximately 20 hours per week or more hours per week depending on employer needs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
* Must be a U.S. citizen
* Have a Social Security Card issued and approved by the Social Security Administration
* Be at least 21 years of age.
* Possess high school diploma from an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or equivalent certificate (GED).
* Speak English fluently, read and comprehend written English, and compose coherent written reports in English.
* Pass the medical examination, drug test, and physical agility test if applicable;
* Completed the required training; and pass the required examination(s);
* And meet one of the following experience / education requirements:
* Three years of security experience within the past five years; or
* An Associates Degree in a related field and at least one year of experience; or
* Three years of military or National Guard (active duty or reserve) experience; or
* Successful completion of Police Officers Standard Training (POST) course; or
* Any reasonable combination of the above (i.e., one year of security experience plus one year of college coursework related in the field).
LICENSES OR CERTIFICATION: Drivers license, Social security card or birth certificate, and any other certification required (guard/clearance card, gun permit, OC permit Baton permit, CPR, First Aid.) (Applicants must have or be willing to obtain the required licenses and certifications.)
The person selected for this position will be required to attend 120 hours of training prior to performing security work for the company. The training will be held in one of the company`s regional facilities, probably Fargo, ND or Billings, MT, with expenses paid by the company.
This position will provide physical security within Federal facilities; perform roving patrol and traffic control; operate and monitor security and fire systems within the facilities; report hazardous conditions, if necessary; and respond to events of injury or illness. The security officers are also required to act as the primary security response until law enforcement assistance arrives when situations warrant.
This position will perform a variety of security-related duties, depending on the posts to which they are assigned. Security guards shall answer questions and provide directions to visitors and building tenants. Typical duties include processing visitors by verifying identification, enforcing property rules and regulations, contacting agency sponsors or escorts, fabricating and issuing visitor passes, entering and maintaining data on visitor logs or automated visitor data base programs, detecting and reporting criminal acts, and ensuring visitors are presented for appropriate personnel and package screening. Additional duties include prevent, discover, delay, and/or detain persons attempting to gain unauthorized access to property and/or personnel at the facility being protected. Security guards will be responsible for operating all security equipment on post, such as batons, OC Spray, X-ray machines, magnetometers, closed circuit television (CCTV), handcuffs, and firearm at any time while on duty.
