Kim Lighting Background
Kim Lighting is the leading manufacturer of architectural outdoor luminaires. Kim Lighting products include architecturally relevant area/site, wall-mounted, low-level, in-grade, parking structure, floodlighting and landscape products that are sold to the commercial lighting market through electrical distributors. The brand is represented in the field by Hubbell Lighting’s network of leading independent sales agencies. Since its establishment in 1934, Kim has clearly differentiated itself as the premiere architectural outdoor lighting brand. The cornerstone of Kim’s premiere status is innovation; many industry firsts were pioneered by Kim Lighting including the first architecturally relevant area/site luminaire, the first in-grade light and the first parking garage luminaire.

Summary of Position:
The Kim Lighting National Sales Manager is responsible for the development and implementation of the overall sales strategy for the Kim Lighting brand to consistently and profitably grow Kim Lighting sales by double digits each year. The Kim Lighting Sales department, presently consisting of five Territory Sales Managers (TSR) and three Quotations personnel, report into the National Sales Manager.

Departmental Interfaces:
The Kim Lighting National Sales Manager interfaces extensively multiple departments within the Kim Brand including Marketing, Product Development, Engineering, Quotations, Production Control, Warranty Services, Order Administration and Administration as well as within the Hubbell Lighting organization including Sales, Marketing Services, the Lighting Solutions Center, Technical Support and Applications Engineering. Primary interface is with the Kim Lighting Sales department (which reports to this position), the Hubbell Lighting Regional Sales Managers, who have dotted line reporting to this position relative to the Kim brand, and with Hubbell’s independent sales agents. Due to the active sales nature of this position, customer interface is significant. The Kim Lighting National Sales Manager is also expected to be active in industry organizations in order to maintain currency on industry issues affecting the brand and act as an advocate of Kim Lighting.

Scope:
Partners with the Kim VP/GM in the development of the Kim Lighting Strategic Plan, with principal responsibility for the development of the annual Kim Sales Plan.

Key interface with the Kim VP/GM, Product Manager, Director of Marketing, and Strategic Analyst to identify, prioritize and plan execution of strategic product initiatives for sales and profit growth.

Implements the Kim Lighting Sales Plan through personal activity, departmental deployment, strategic direction of the Hubbell Lighting Regional Sales Managers, interface with the Hubbell Lighting independent sales agents, etc.

Leverages the TSRs and his/her personal contacts to act as a field interface between the Kim Marketing and Product Development organization and the field to identify, research and recommend opportunities for new product development, product maintenance, quality adjustments, literature and packaging development, strategic promotion programs, pricing adjustments, etc.

Formulates, implements and tracks national promotion programs for the Kim Lighting brand, including directing Kim’s Landscape Lighting Distributor (LLD) program, which is tactically managed by one of the TSRs.

Directs the TSRs in the issuance of quotations (when pricing below agent authority is required) for key jobs. Directs the International Quotations Manager in the issuance of project quotations for international sales.

Directs the Quotations personnel in the review and initial processing of incoming orders including the issuance of ETO (engineered to order) part numbers for Engineering, pricing review, customer requirement clarification, bootleg notification issuance, and specification credit logging, tracking and issuance.

Directly manages a portion of the nationwide HLI sales reps relative to the Kim brand (the TSRs manage the balance), including quotations issuance for these agencies.

Supports the Order Administration process
1. Sales Manager is the ability to motivate people and facilitate interdepartmental and interpersonal cooperation and positive cultural change. This requires strong interpersonal, communication and organization skills, a high degree of enthusiasm, an extremely positive attitude and a strong vision for excellence.
2. The Kim Lighting National Sales Manager must have the ability to quickly learn new things and implement them into the execution of his/her responsibilities. He/she must have a practical command of customary and professional office etiquette and protocol as gained through experience in related positions.
3. Honesty, integrity, open-mindedness, an enjoyment of working with others and a positive mental attitude are critical qualities.
4. Ability to travel up to 60% required.

Expertise:
1. College degree required. Bachelor’s Degree in Business preferred. Ten years of applicable experience in lighting-related management may act in lieu of a college degree.
2. Minimum of three years experience in the lighting industry (five preferred). Experience with outdoor lighting luminaires preferred.
3. This position involves the indirect management supervision of personnel and requires a high degree of interpersonal and management skill. At least one year of personnel management experience involving extensive interpersonal relations is strongly preferred.
4. Current knowledge of modern and historical High Intensity Discharge, Compact Fluorescent and LED lighting components, technologies, materials and methods a strong plus.
5. General knowledge of federal and regional lighting standards, codes and product requirements preferred.
6. Strong working knowledge of, experience with and proficiency in office computer systems and windows-based software (including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, personal information managers, presentation programs, Internet browsing and e-mail) required. Strong MS PowerPoint experience required.

Physical Demands:
Attendance: Standard Company hours 7am-4pm, Monday through Friday. Hours for this position will often extend beyond normal eight-hour work week due to travel requirements, training, trade shows, etc..
Environment: Air conditioned office with fluorescent office lighting.
Personal Protective Equipment: Company-provided safety glasses for periodic trips into the factory.
Job Task Specifics: Regularly sits, stands, walks and climbs stairs. Regularly opens and closes (push-pull) fully loaded file drawers (10 lbs.). Periodically lifts and carries files, brochures, books, purchased items, etc. weighing up to 15 lbs. over a distance of 100 yards, which may include climbing stairs.
