Product Design Manager

• Hubbell Lighting, Inc., a world class manufacturer of commercial, industrial and residential lighting fixtures located in Greenville SC, currently has an opening within their Outdoor & Industrial group for an experienced Product Design Manager.

• Manage NPD process and tools required to continuously improve delivery of new products to market; Work closely with Product Engineering Manager on deliverables, including all documentation, BOMs, VC input, etc.
• Develop product design engineers into project engineers responsible for managing new product projects from kick-off to market launch.
• HLOI Champion for VEA initiative, identifying new projects and providing technical support for all major cost reduction projects.
• HLOI Champion providing technical support for Warranty design improvements.
• Establish Project Priorities, Resource Requirements (people and capital), Budget and Timelines for new products and new design initiatives.
• Ensure all projects are delivered within specifications, on-time and within budget.
• Support Product Engineering (technical) for all HLO&I products.
• Manage design support for product transfers to LCC, including Mexico and China
• Develop and manage annual Design Capital and Expense budgets
• Build alliances with and shares best practices with sister brands and support functions within the platform.
• Identify and leverage co-development opportunities across platform, utilizing existing products, processes or technologies
• Manage all patent activities including submittal, research and file maintenance.
• Manage development of design team, increasing breadth and depth of technical and business skill sets to raise their contribution value to the business.
• Identify and leverage key technology trends to help position HLOI as an innovation leader in the markets we serve.

• Degree(s) required:
  
• BS in ME, EE or Optical Engineering

• Masters in Engineering or MBA
• A minimum of 10 years experience in design engineering, with a minimum of 5 years in lighting design combined with significant previous experience managing a design team.

• Mechanical, analytical, optical preferred.

• Leadership; Interpersonal relationship-building and effectively interfacing with all levels of management, internally and externally; Problem solving; Decision-making.

• International and domestic travel will be required.
