Knowledge, Education and Skills Required:
• Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Technology or Management with CCS.
• Minimum 3 years acute care coding with demonstrated expertise in ICD9 and CPT coding.
• Computer literacy in Microsoft applications or other similar programs.
Knowledge, Education and Skills Preferred:
Experience in adult and continuing education, organizational development and training.
Required Certification/Licensing:
Certified Coding Specialist
Job Summary:
The Medical Coding Educator designs, delivers, and evaluates coding education and training programs for the Health Information and Ancillary staff.
Essential Generic Job Functions (List in order of importance):
1. Designs, develops and delivers education and training program that meet the staff’s needs for professional and personal development.
2. Plans and develops curricula in accordance with the Medical Center’s strategic goals, mission and business strategies to improve employee performance leading to quality data and to promote quality financial outcomes.
3. Assists Managers of Health Information and Ancillary departments with education & training needs assessment, program development and evaluation of staff competencies.
