Job Description
The Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences, College of Veterinary Medicine, Iowa State University is seeking qualified applicants for two full-time faculty appointments (tenure-track or clinical-track) in neurology.
Applications for tenure-track positions will be accepted at the levels of assistant, associate, or full professor, and those for clinical-track at the levels of clinician and senior clinician. The successful applicants will be joining a unique program built on a long standing reputation in clinical neurology with collaboration with an NIH-funded neuroscience research program ICAN (Iowa Center for Advanced Neurotoxicology) whose members are engaged in the study of neurodegenerative diseases, companion animal models of storage disease, and prion diseases, to name a few. MRI and CT are present for companion animal species and will be expanded to include large animal patients in the new hospital addition with completion in fall 2008. The clinical support team will include a residency position and a technician. For tenure-track appointments, approximately 50% effort will be dedicated to professional practice and clinical instruction in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, with the remaining 50% used for the development of creative programs for scholarship in didactic and laboratory teaching, and neurology- related research. Outreach activities are expected to disseminate this knowledge. For clinical-track appointments, the assignment to clinical duty will be 70-80% with the balance of effort to be negotiated. Salary will be commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the applicant.
