Job Description:
The individual in this position will administer, manage and participate in concrete pavement research while leading a diverse team of professionals. The research will typically involve projects of regional and national significance, requiring a broad understanding of portland cement concrete pavement materials and construction practices. The individual will be expected to work collaboratively with and supervise undergraduate and graduate student research activity in the Center, and will work with P&S and support staff, faculty and industry professionals on research. The individual will be required to conduct PCC field research and publish corresponding research reports and professional papers; make oral presentations describing research findings; and write proposals to attract additional sponsorship. In addition to research responsibilities, the individual will be required to make presentations at workshops and conferences and develop technology transfer materials on the science and practice of portland cement concrete paving. In-state and out-of-state travel required.
Required Qualifications:
Assistant Scientist III: Bachelor's degree in civil or construction engineering or related field and 5 years of experience in Portland cement concrete pavements and materials; a related Master's degree and 3 years of related experience; or a Ph.D. or other doctoral program.
Associate Scientist: Master's degree in civil or construction engineering or related field and 5 years of related experience or a related PhD and 2 years of related experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Preference will be given to those with ten years or more of experience with pavement design, pavement construction or concrete materials
- Advanced degree preferred
- Professional Registration as a civil or construction engineer or the ability to become registered within a year
- Experience with, and knowledge of, PCC related research.
- Experience with program development and management support
Salary:
Minimum $46,516; commensurate with qualifications
Special Conditions:
This position will be filled as an Assistant Scientist III or Associate Scientist.
This position is a 3-year term appointment at ISU. Renewal is dependent on satisfactory performance and continued funding. CTRE has historically been extremely successful in maintaining sponsored funding levels and it is anticipated that this position will be renewed.
