Job Description:
The clinician will work within the Emergency Medicine/Critical Care Service. The applicant must have training and experience that demonstrates outstanding diagnostic and technical skills required for the care and treatment of animals requiring emergency/critical care. The successful applicant will be joining a service that includes 5 interns and 5 technicians. This position also requires that the applicant possesses excellent communications skills, both in speaking to clients, referring veterinarians, and coworkers as well as desire to teach 4th year veterinary students as they rotate through the Emergency Medicine/Critical Care Service. The assignment to Clinical Duty will be 80-90% with the balance of effort to be negotiated.
Required Qualifications:
A DVM or equivalent from an AVMA accredited University is required. The person must have excellent verbal and written skills in English. Outstanding technical skills and prior experience in emergency medicine are necessary for applicant consideration.
In addition to the above qualifications, the position will require a license to practice veterinary medicine in the State of Iowa and at least three years of experience in a small animal emergency medicine/critical setting as a veterinarian with primary case management.
Preferred Qualifications:
Board certification in the discipline.
