This is a 12 month (A-Base) appointment.

The successful applicant will join a growing department that has responsibilities for research, professional and graduate teaching and professional practice and outreach for the food animal industry and food supply veterinary medicine. It is expected that the person who fills this position will demonstrate scholarship in research and teaching with evidence of national impact and recognition in biostatistics. The incumbent will collaborate with experts in the ISU College of Veterinary Medicine in order to study a number of challenging questions relating to evidence based medicine, livestock health, production, diagnostics, food safety, and quality assurance. The successful applicant will play a major role in providing statistical support for faculty in the department in the design, conduct and analysis of research projects. The incumbent will have the opportunity to work with scientists from fields such as epidemiology, bacteriology, virology, pathology, swine and dairy and beef and small ruminant production medicine and food safety. Potential research areas include infectious disease modeling, risk analysis, outcomes assessment, evidence based medicine, GIS analyses, survey analysis in areas of livestock health, production, diagnostics, food safety, and quality assurance. The incumbent will also have the opportunity to work with faculty from other departments in the ISU College of Veterinary Medicine in areas such as applied and basic research in biomedical sciences, microbiology, pathology, and companion animal medicine and surgery.

Teaching responsibilities will be primarily in the interdepartmental Preventive Veterinary Medicine major administered by VDPAM.
