Job Description
The Department of Entomology at Iowa State University seeks to fill a new tenure-track position in applied entomology to conduct extension and research on arthropod pests of Iowa field crops with an emphasis on, but not limited to, insect pests of soybeans and corn. The successful candidate must be an excellent communicator capable of informing growers and agribusiness across multiple media. The successful applicant will be expected to develop a nationally recognized field crops pest management extension program and collaborate with colleagues, commodity groups, and producers and their service providers. Responsibilities will include advising graduate students.
Required Qualifications
Requirements for ASSISTANT PROFESSOR: Ph.D. in entomology or closely related field. Experience that demonstrates a clear desire and ability to develop a strong extension program in field crops entomology. Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Requirements for ASSOCIATE or FULL PROFESSOR: In addition to the above, the candidate must have the following additional qualifications:
ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR: 5 years or more of professional experience beyond a postdoctoral position, developed an outreach and/or extension program in entomology, and have an emerging regional and national reputation in outreach and/or extension.
FULL PROFESSOR: 8 years or more of professional experience beyond a postdoctoral position, a documented history of developing a strong outreach and/or extension entomology program, and a national reputation in outreach and/or extension.
Preferred Qualifications
Postdoctoral experience in extension and applied entomology research and evidence of ability to obtain extramural funding.

Special Conditions
70% extension/30% research, tenure track, 12-month appointment.
