Biofuels Operations Manager
Job Location: Iowa and Illinois
JOB SUMMARY:
This purpose of this position is to oversee and be responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the Biofuel operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Responsible for managing and overseeing the production in the biofuel manufacturing plant.
- Oversee equipment maintenance of all mechanical operations at the facility.
- Plan and schedule biofuels production to meet customer and marketing goals in the most efficient manner.
- Monitor and continually improve quality control in all aspects of Biofuels operation.
- Assist with budgeting and monitor labor and other expenses.
- Improve production efficiency and profitability.
- Implement Processing changes and new technologies as they evolve.
- Plan and budget for new projects related to biofuels.
- Coordinate all safety and environmental programs and training. Enforce all safety policies and ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA and regulations. Serve on CIE safety committee and conduct regular department safety meetings.
- Maintain inventory of supplies including containers, labels and other supplies. Individual will price, purchase and approve payment of supplies and repairs needed for Biofuels Operations.
- Prepare the following reports as required: a) Biofuels inventories - daily, b) Biofuels Production reports - daily, c) Quality control reports - weekly, d) Maintenance reports - as requested, e) Housekeeping reports - as requested, and any other reports as requested.
- Assist in handling customer complaints and follow-ups.
- Employ, train, evaluate, motivate, and lead employees. Manage the day to day operation of the biofuel plant.
- Schedule and maintain housekeeping, including maintaining a clean, well-kept appearance in the facility, outside grounds, and equipment.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Communicate effectively with customers and co-workers both orally and written.
- Use or learn to use basic mechanical tools.
- Work independently or together as a team.
- Be available for daily work as required.
- Ability to use computer controlled equipment and to understand PLC controlled environments and systems.
- Accurately record data and generate computer reports and process written records on a timely basis.
- Provide assistance in other work related areas.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Education Required:
4-year degree in Chemical Engineering or other Technical field.
Experience Required:
3-5 years management/supervisory experience, preferably in manufacturing or continuous processing environment. Soy oil, ethanol, petroleum, or bio energy experience would be helpful.
Skills Required:
Basic accounting skills, good written and oral communication, and organizational skills. Understanding of organic chemistry and continuous processing preferably liquid flow control would be helpful.
Compensation/Benefits:
$100,000 to $120,000 with 20% bonus package.
