INVISTA's Victoria TX Plant is a well-established, world class manufacturing facility, providing chemical intermediates for the manufacture of Nylon-6,6. The Nylon Intermediates facilities consist of adiponitrile, adipic acid, hexamethylenediamine and other nylon intermediate products.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Co-op Maintenance Mechanic will learn how to repair, maintain and calibrate machinery and mechanical equipment, in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications, using handtools, power tools and precision measuring and testing instruments.
Co-op Maintenance Mechanics work a 4-10 work schedule, (6:30 am to 5:00 pm – Monday through Thursday).
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
•High School Diploma or equivalent
•Must have completed all required coursework for the Instrument and Electrical Technology at Victoria College and/or completed the 4th semester of the Instrument and Electrical Technnology or Industrial Maintenance Technology at TSTC – Waco
•Must meet all requirements of the college co-op program
•Demonstrated written and oral communication skills.
•Demonstrated interpersonal skills.
•Demonstrated analytical skills sufficient to analyze mechanical problems. Problem solving is a critical part of a Maintenance Mechanic’s job.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
•Maintenance Mechanics work a 10-hour day shift, Monday through Thursday, but work schedule is subject to change with notification, depending upon business needs.
Additionally, mechanics must be available to work scheduled (Planned) or unscheduled (unplanned/short-notice hours on nights and/or weekends, holidays as needed, to meet business needs.
•Required to wear any or all of the following PPE: safety glasses, hearing protection, goggles, hard hats, Nomex, acid suits, breathing air, gloves, safety boots, respirators, and encapsulated suits. PPE use is in accordance with the Job Safety Analysis (JSA) for a given task.
•Work under the following conditions: Confined spaces, congested areas, extreme inclement weather, required overtime, long hours, on-call hours, etc.
•Climb stairs, ladders on columns, ladders and scaffolds
•Lift and/or move up to 50 lbs
COMPENSATION/BENEFITS:
This is a temporary full-time position with competitive wages. There are no benefits associated with this position.
