RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for preparation and support of global & site engineering project estimates, predominantly conceptual estimates in support of INVISTA Front End Loading (FEL) processes.
- Development and audit of estimate basis documents that can be used by project teams to increase the accuracy of estimates including keeping key assumptions evergreen.
- Monitor the types of estimates by industry and business so that an estimating archive can be developed and used to support the projects and businesses and they apply these practices to current and future projects.
- Preparation of Engineering Procurement & Construction (EPC) estimates in support of Global capital planning processes.
- Ensure that project controls processes are implemented following described best practices and in line with Project Control Plans
- Plan, co-ordinate and review cost estimates ensuring projects are set up for success to meet estimates in line with scope and proactively communicate with project management of potential risks and mitigation strategies to correct.
- Implement a process of capturing actual project cost data to keep estimates ratio’s current so that future projects can benefit from applying real data as required.
- Implement company metrics and templates so that estimates can be benchmarked against industries, businesses and current trends.
- Perform routine audits on project estimates (Both conceptual and definitive) as required working with teams to ensure that scope is complete and integrated into the estimate and schedule and that estimate factors and overall accuracy is in line with project deliverables.
- Carry out post closure project audits to gather actual data versus estimate so that ratios and trends can be kept current for ongoing needs and preparation and submission of data to IPA.
- Instruct 3rd party companies in how to prepare estimates and also validate 3rd party estimates.
- Prepare and Lead estimate reviews with INVISTA Leadership.
Experience and Skills Required:
- Bachelors degree or higher in Engineering or Project Management.
- Minimum 10+ yrs experience in Project Management or Engineering (with at least 5+ yrs of that experience preparing/supporting large capital project estimates) within the petrochemical or chemical industries.
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite with proficient skills in Excel (creating charts, formatting cells, working with macros & pivot tables etc.), Access (ability to work with & manipulate large sets of data), PowerPoint (change slide layout, applying new presentation design and inserting images etc.).
- Experience with providing estimates on large capital projects ranging from $5 - $50 MM (or greater).
- Strong communicator who can quickly establish rapport and build a network with internal customers.
Experience and Skills Preferred:
- Experienced in the use of Kbase/Icarus estimating software.
- Experience using SAP.
