ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Handle the installation and maintenance of server hardware, operating systems and software.
2. Provide technical support to internal and external clients in all aspects of computer internetworking.
3. Ensure the availability and stability of the environment to the level required by our customers.
4. Support the architecture for the environment by enforcing deployment policies, build procedures and change management.
5. Provide alerting, monitoring and reporting for supported systems that will allow for continuous operation.
6. Work closely with infrastructure, helpdesk, computer operations, and other personnel as required to ensure that all client-server network related problems are handled quickly and professionally. This includes written procedures where appropriate.
7. Expected to carry out assignments with almost no supervision and guidance.
8. Ability to handle many assignments and complex projects simultaneously.
9. Perform other related duties as required or assigned

JOB SUMMARY:
Manage the design, installation and maintenance of computer networks. Provide technical support to JBH internal customers as well as external customers in all aspects of computer networking. Ensure that the network infrastructure is sufficient to satisfy any needs placed on it by our customers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Local and Wide Area Network Design and Implementation to maximize availability while minimizing expense.
Ensure that VTAM/NCP is kept current and functional.
Assignment of all network address to network devices in the Enterprise network.
Ensure the availability of network communication devices.
Ensure the availability of network servers.
Network Services is defined as the services provided by LAN Server in domain servers, additional servers (as defined by LAN Server), network attached printers.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Fifth year college or university program certificate; six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience and 12-18 months management experience.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE and ABILITIES
Ability to research data and know where to obtain data. Ability to deal effectively and tactfully with customers and vendors. Ability to make decisions in a timely and professional manner, plus have analytical ability, initiative and problem solving ability.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Preferred:
Industry certifications related to networking.

USE OF COMPUTERS, SOFTWARE and EQUIPMENT
Must have the ability to operate general office equipment and computers. Must be proficient in the use of various software programs and core networking components. Examples include RDBMS Skills (MSSQL or DB2) or Imaging Services Skills (Filenet).
