Bachelors degree or equivalent experience; minimum 3 years professional experience, at least 2 years of which include a broad background and depth in export/import regulations (ITAR, EAR, OFAC, ATF, Customs), compliance, classifications, licensing and exemptions, Technical Assistance Agreements, commodity jurisdiction requests, and Technology Control Plans; demonstrated ability to make independent judgments regarding the application of US Export Regulations; ability to apply professional perspective to APL's technology context and to technology issues; demonstrated ability to work independently with general guidance and as a team player; strong research, written and verbal communication skills; strong organizational skills and ability to establish priorities among a wide variety of projects; sound judgment, professional demeanor, good work ethic and business acumen.

Desired:
Prior experience with government contracting in a federal agency or government contractor is desired. A technical background, prior experience with DoD security, critical technical information, and/or corporate compliance and internal investigations a plus.

Job Description:
To work closely with the Office of Counsel and other business functions in the organization to analyze business opportunities, propose export compliance solutions, and when appropriate obtain export authorization to ensure the ability to release technical data and services. Research, prepare, and communicate the status of export license applications, Technical Assistance Agreements (TAAs), and other export and import documentation, and work with business units to proactively develop export compliance strategies for programs with international interactions. providing day-to-day assistance to business units on compliance with the International Traffic and Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), and OFAC-Office of Foreign Assets Control, and other import/export laws. Determine proper jurisdiction and appropriate classification of hardware, software, and technology, maintain records in accordance with regulatory requirements, participate in compliance audits of import/export activities and draft voluntary disclosures as required. Assist in the development of training programs for compliance, maintain internal intranet page, coordinate quarterly Export Office newsletter, assist in review of policies, procedures and systems to manage day-to-day import/export compliance, and coordinate with a network of external contacts to ensure consistency with industry best practices for export compliance.
