Required:
M.S. in physics, engineering (electrical), physical oceanography, applied mathematics or related field. Well developed computer programming skills applicable to scientific analysis (e.g., MATLAB, FORTRAN) Applicant selected will be subject to a Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship and preclude dual citizenship with other countries.
Desired:
Knowledge of and experience in signal processing and data analysis. Experience with optical and/or radar remote sensing systems- Ability and willingness to travel and participate in oceanographic and meteorological field tests. Highly-motivated, team-oriented, self-starter desiring to be challenged by working on problems of national importance.
Job Description:
Provide algorithm development and analysis of remote and in-situ data in support of Undersea Warfare and Homeland Protection programs. Opportunity to work with a group of dedicated professionals from a variety of technical backgrounds involved in all aspects of in-situ and remote sensing of ocean and atmospheric phenomena, including end-to-end signature modeling, measurements, signal processing, and the analysis and interpretation of experimental data.
Duties:
Apply knowledge of remote sensing and data analysis lo problems of interest to Navy and other DoD sponsors. Analyze data and compare results with model predictions. Develop physical understanding and models of electromagnetic interactions with ocean, primarily near-surface, processes. Improve existing models and develop new capability as needed. Communicate results effectively, in both written and oral form, to applicable R&D communities.
