Experience:
Required:
B.S. or M.S. in physics, electrical engineering, or equivalent. Broad experience in electro-optical instruments and systems, having >5 years of that experience. Hands-on ability to integrate and test optical instruments. Experience in detailed design of optical and/or mechanical subsystems. Experience in working with supporting technologies and techniques (cryogenics, vacuum, thermal and vibration testing, etc.) Ability to articulate system level designs and concepts to internal and external personnel, both in writing and presentations.
Desired:
PhD in physics, electrical engineering, or equivalent. In-depth design expertise in one specialty related to optical/mechanical/electronic sensors and instruments.
Job Description:
Design, development, test, and evaluation of electro-optical systems, including conceptual design and definition, hands-on lab work, proposals, and analysis of system data.
Duties:
Optical systems engineering including concept development, system tradeoffs, system evaluation, system development, data analysis, and documentation. Optical/mechanical/electrical design and testing of selected subsystems for prototype systems or test equipment. Lead small teams in development of prototype systems or test equipment. Integration and test of optical test equipment and related systems testing, including optical analysis and procedure development, optical testing and interferometry, alignment and characterization of systems.
