Required: High School Diploma minimum must have a good understanding and knowledge of technical/engineering practices with an ability to interpret specifications and drawings. Demonstrated high levels of proficiency in instrumentation and data analysis techniques are necessary to ensure the integrity of the test and adherence to the specifications. 3-5 years experience in working in a test laboratory conducting vibration, shock and mechanical testing. Experience in using computerized control systems, electronic measuring equipment, test instrumentation and data acquisition systems as it applies to vibration, shock and mechanical testing applications. Ability to work extensive overtime and shift coverage in support of thermal vacuum testing, as needed.

Desired: Associate Degree in engineering or knowledge of engineering theory as it relates to vibration, shock and mechanical testing and applications. Ability to interpret test requirements, standards and specifications. 5-7 years work experience in test laboratory conducting vibration and /or thermal vacuum testing. Experience in testing satellite structures and components are highly desirable. Knowledge and hands-on experience with the operation and maintenance of computerized control and data acquisition systems manufactured by m+p International Spectral Dynamics, as well as Ling and Unholtz-Dickie vibration exciters and amplifiers. Experience in the design of test fixtures using basic CAD software tools. Special Working Conditions: Able to lift heavy equipment and test items. Individual must be capable of working in multilevel buildings and related group test facilities. Able to work overtime (at times extensive), weekend and shift work for test coverage, sometimes on short notice, as needed.

Job Description:
Environmental test laboratory technician responsible for the coordination, setup, conduct, and reporting of vibration, shock, static load, mass properties and acoustic testing performed for the development, qualification, and acceptance of space flight hardware and systems. Testing responsibilities include operation of computerized control system, instrumentation installation, and collection and reduction of test data. Facility responsibilities include operation, maintenance, and upgrade of facility equipment. Setup, coordination, and conduct of mechanical and dynamic related environmental testing efforts. Operating specialized control and data acquisition equipment systems as related to vibration, shock, static load and mass properties testing. Maintaining test equipment in the Vibration Test Facility. Troubleshooting and calibration of equipment. Provide support in the development and implementation of facility upgrades. Equipment includes electro-dynamic shakers, solid state power amplifiers, instrumentation and signal conditioning equipment. Revising and updating procedures. Implementation of Standard Operating Practices and Procedures, safety plans and check lists. Preparation of test documentation such as logs, checklists, and data files. Preparation of test reports. Documentation of modifications and upgrades to facility equipment, procedures and installations. Support of Space Simulation Laboratory (SSL) operations on an as-needed basis which may include round-the-clock shift coverage. Applicants selected will be subject to a Government security investigation and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include US citizenship. Must be eligible for DoD clearance requiring background investigation and/or polygraph examination. Preference for current SSBI.
