Introduction
The Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), a national leader in scientific research and development, located midway between Baltimore and Washington, DC is seeking a Communications Test and Evaluation Engineer.
Responsibilities Conduct and supervise analysis of strategic communications systems and architectures (Very Low Frequency through Extremely High Frequency and Landline Networks). Participate in long-term planning studies of these systems. Supervise analysis, test and evaluation of USAF strategic communications systems (VLF through EHF & landline networks) performance. Evaluate procedural documents; make recommendations to management for corrections and/or improvements. Analyze test results and document relevant findings in formal technical reports. Coordinate with associated military commands to present results of analyses, identify deficiencies, and resolve technical and operational issues. Coordinate development, integration, and testing of data analysis tools for communications system assessment. Design and execute special communications system evaluation tests and attend technical meetings.
Qualifications Required: B.S. in electrical engineering, systems engineering or equivalent. 2- 3 years experience with communications systems with a strong interest in communications and IT systems. Knowledge of strategic communication systems and operational procedures. Ability to lead teams and work independently with excellent technical writing and briefing skills.
Desired: BSEE/MSEE or equivalent. Knowledge of C++ or C# Programming language, Microsoft Office. Military experience in ICBM LCC or Bomber strategic communications to include MILSATCOM operations, as well as experience with radio frequency testing equipment; and working knowledge of electromagnetic propagation theory.

Eligibility requirements include US citizenship. Must be eligible for DoD clearance requiring background investigation and/or polygraph examination. Preference for current SSBI.
