Sr. Manager Enterprise Infrastructure and Broadcast Engineering
We are looking for a Sr. Manager of Enterprise Infrastructure and Broadcast Engineering for The Gazette Company. The Gazette Company is the parent company for Iowa Sourcemedia Group, including The Gazette, KCRG TV-9, Color Web Printers and Fusionfarm. This position will manage the daily activities and develop the strategic direction of the enterprise-wide network, broadcast engineering, telephony, and desktop support. Responsible for planning and directing department budgets, establishing department projects and goals, and ensuring appropriate resource management and cross training. Implements and maintains enterprise-wide system tools and ensures scalability. Acts as an individual contributor in the network security/domain workspace and desktop support areas as needed. All responsibilities and staff operate in a 24/7 manner.
Responsibilities
Managing direct reports and partnering with employees to set goals and establish standards for expected performance. Monitor their performance against set goals and expectations.
Manage expenses and budgets to align with company business goals.
Research, analyze and make recommendations for procedures and policies for network security, broadcast engineering, telephony and desktop support.
Act as the top level technical contributor with advanced knowledge and experience in the area of local and wide area networking, communications and related hardware/software.
Manage large scale projects; such as corporate email upgrades, desktop OS upgrades, broadcast equipment upgrades and installations.
Research and recommend failover and disaster plans to maintain availability of critical core systems.
Actively network with industry peers and participates in industry/domain discussions.
Aptitude and willingness to learn technical subject matter and become an expert related to various broadcast systems such as master control, broadcast production automation, video, audio, traffic, content ingesting, editing, and archiving. In addition supporting technical needs for broadcast signal transmission and reception to include, but not be limited to, satellite, microwave, bonded cellular, hybrids of these, etc.
Ensures all broadcast compliance of FCC rules/regulations across all platforms at all times. Trains and works with staff and hold them responsible for FCC compliance of mandated protocols for equipment specifications and operations.
Needs to properly assess risks and develop solutions when making regular decisions that can have widespread implications for publication of daily newspaper and broadcast of seven daily live newscasts, as well as numerous live events in the field each month.
Minimum Requirements
BA/BS in Computer Science, Business or Engineering + 8 years of related experience and 6 years of supervisory experience.
Excellent coach, mentor and team builder
Knowledge of networking including routing, switches, bridges and domain registration.
Knowledge of cloud services, hosted servers, data archiving, data centers, bandwidths and security.
Hands on experience with data infrastructure, telephony infrastructure, server administration experience including Windows and Linux, desktop administration experience including Windows, Linux, and iOS, database experience, and inventory and software compliance experience.
Excellent knowledge of data security standards policies, and procedures including encryption, certificates, authentication, wireless, authentication, data forensics, HIPAA, and ISO 27002.
Preferred certifications: FCC General Radiophone license, SBE, CISM, CISSP, CCNP, CCIE, MCSA and PMP.:
