EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE












Minimum Education:





Master`s Degree in Nursing required.

Doctorate in Higher Education or Nursing preferred.









Minimum Experience/Training:





Requires three years teaching experience in Nursing at the postsecondary level, with a history of demonstrated leadership roles in educational settings.

History of demonstrated leadership roles in educational settings with increasing responsibility in past positions and demonstrate abilities in communication, leadership, management, teamwork, critical thinking, organizational skills, analytical skills, problem solving, conflict resolution and long range or strategic academic planning skills.

Excellent oral and written communication, financial management and budget design skills.

Demonstrated excellence in teaching and scholarly/creative research in higher education.

In-depth knowledge of Nursing.









Minimum Certification/Licenses:





Must have current and active Registered Nurse License from the State of Florida with no history of suspension or having any action taken against that license.

Oversees and coordinates professional development plans, management and evaluation, and submits appropriate recommendations of personnel actions.

May manage multiple discipline/departments or multiple units within a division.

Works directly with contractual provisions, interpreting contract language and working with faculty to ensure contract provisions are met.

Develops and manages the academic, student or business department`s budget(s).

Has full responsibility for multiple academic disciplines, units or departments.

Responsible for the protection and safe-keeping of confidential data acquired during the course of work.

Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with supervising dean, faculty, staff, administrators and students.

Ability to provide leadership and direction; analyze situations and develop effective solutions; Demonstrate well-developed interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills, as well as an ability to lead charge through a collaborative approach; Having a working knowledge of activities including but not limited to scheduling, departmental budget, faculty union/bargaining agreement process, nursing certification and licensure requirements, be familiar with hospital affiliates and relates and related scheduling of student clinical.

Knowledge of accreditation and regulatory agency requirements.

Demonstrate experience in interpreting; articulating and communicating college, campus, nursing program.

Exceptional organization, oral and written communication skills.

Sensitivity to the needs of a diverse student population.

Ability to supervise and train staff; Ability to collect and analyze data and make decisions that are data driven.

















POSITION OBJECTIVE












Position Objective:





The purpose of the job is to serve in a management and leadership capacity reporting to the appropriate Academic Dean or Administrator for the responsibility of overall department operations in accordance with college policies, procedures and contractual agreement, and in support of the overall plan of the college. Employees in this job classification are responsible for the comprehensive coordination and administration of all matters relating to personnel, students, scheduling curriculum implementation, external agencies, instruction, and all financial considerations relating to the department, and accomplishes such in coordination with the colleges` mission and college wide goals and campus-based initiatives. Associate Deans provide leadership for all instructional programs which may include all or some of the courses within the associate degrees as well as vocational and technical certificates. Performs related work as directed.
