Position Description: Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following: - Must have Strong Red Hat Linux Skills (Enterprise Level environment). Strong ability to script in Shell and Perl. - Hostmaster responsibilities for DNS Servers and DHCP supporting internal DNS. - Hostmaster responsibilities for BIND DNS Servers hosting over 5000 domains in external DNS. - Postmaster responsibilities for SMTP gateways supporting inbound and outbound mail infrastructure. - Troubleshoot DNS, DHCP, SMTP issues occurring in daily operations using diagnostic tools for packet capturing and port scanning such as tcpdump, wireshark, and nmap. - Provide technical and end user related support for any issues relating to the systems supported by UNIX Operations. - Build and maintain hardware/software configurations for enterprise UNIX/Linux systems. - Develop standards and processes for the implementation and maintenance of software packages running on multi-user Servers. Software packages include, but are not limited to: multiple UNIX OS versions, clustering, disk and file management systems, backup applications, Oracle, Apache, Perl, SSH. - Develop standards and processes for change and configuration management. - Support, modify, and/or improve internally developed and 3rd party production, development, and QA hardware and applications. - Monitor and optimize storage capacity, data availability, capacity usage, performance and data reporting. - Isolate issues and correct and improve operational efficiency through changes to the software, reconfiguration of the hardware, or implementation of new processes or solutions. - Develop tools to automate administrative tasks and offer efficient and scalable solutions to meet the demands of administering large number of Servers in an enterprise environment. - Write proposals or papers, making presentations to internal customers and peers, and working closely with upper management. - Lead large-scale technical projects, working with company staff and vendors to gather requirements, determine solutions, and then implement those solutions. - Document system configurations, operating procedures, etc. - Participate in a 24X7 on-call rotation with peers.
Qualifications: - Minimum of five or more years experience in systems administration and engineering that included the building, configuring and support of mission critical, production systems in a large, enterprise environment. - Minimum of five or more years experience supporting Red Hat Linux operating system platform in business-critical environment. Red Hat Certified Engineer certification highly desired. - Experience supporting DNS, DHCP, and SMTP installations with large user base. - Experience with SAN technologies. - Knowledge and understanding of relational databases such as MySQL and Oracle. - Knowledge and understanding of industry best practices for system administration in large scale, mission-critical environments. - Ability to interpret server operational and performance characteristics. - Ability to write Shell Scripts or applications to create custom solutions that streamline and automate business processes. - Ability to use the resources at their disposal to gather information, formulate solutions, circulate ideas to solicit peer input, determine the right solution and implement a timely solution. - Possess critical thinking and effective troubleshooting skills with ability to quickly and accurately determine source of a problem, identify possible solutions, select the most appropriate solution, and implement the solution in a timely manner. - Strong dedication, work ethics, sense of teamwork, and professional attitude. - Proven history of constantly striving for improved methodology, efficiency, and work processes. - Strong Red Hat Linux experience. - Solid knowledge of DNS, DHCP, SMTP protocols. - Proficient in administration of BIND and Sendmail - Ability to script in Shell and Perl. Solid UNIX experience and Strong Shell Scripting.
