A Senior Designer 1 will develop new designs for smaller projects consisting of product enhancements as required by sales, the customer and project management. Providing detail drawings and BOM’s to complete assigned projects. Will interface closely with project management, sales, production and other drafting staff. Is familiar with a variety of product concepts, practices and procedures used in a specific product area. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals of the job. Performs a variety of moderately complicated tasks in executing assigned projects. May direct, lead and check the work of others. Requires only minimal supervision and is afforded a moderate degree of creativity and latitude on assigned projects.
Responsibilities:
Layout and design products, following customer, engineering and manufacturing specifications
Utilize assigned drafting personnel to assist in creating complete accurate drawing packages of assigned projects
Provide information, assistance and guidance to other drafting personnel
Check drawing packages to insure accuracy, completeness, and quality of drawings produced by other drafting personnel
Issue completed drawing packages to customers and manufacturing for fabrication
Review project status of assigned projects as required
Assist in the maintenance of product standard and master drawings as well as files on assigned projects
Communicate with engineering and manufacturing to resolve design and fabrication problems
Participate in the development of new product designs and re-design of established products as required
Assist in coordinating the effective utilization of assigned group members
Assist in developing an efficient work environment based on teamwork
Learn and effectively utilize Visibility - part numbering and structuring bills of material
Continue to develop computer and Autocad abilities to improve the overall disposition of the projects assigned
Continue to develop knowledge of all applicable products
Continue to develop a better understanding of the Koch Principles of Behavior and strive to perform assigned responsibilities in accordance with these principles.
Expectations:
Develop and maintain a good working relationship with project engineering, manufacturing, and other drafting personnel producing a total teamwork environment.
Create an efficient and accurate drawing package that is delivered on time to manufacturing and our customers.
Develop a high level of design proficiency in all applicable products in an effort to maximize
productivity.
Requirements
Five (5) years design drafting related to products/projects for the refining, chemical and petrochemical industries is required. Experience and competency in various Cad systems (AutoCad and 3-D software) is required.
Seven (7) years drafting for products related to John Zink's business (Flares, Vapor Recovery, etc.) is preferred.
Experience and competency in various Cad systems such as Cadworks is preferred.
Associate degree in Drafting Design, Engineering Design or equivalent experience is required.
