JOB SUMMARY:
Clinician provides an array of mental health services to children and families. There is an emphasis on treating the family with risk factors which could lead to the possibility of child removal or family dissolution. In-home family therapy is often the treatment model of choice.

The family system is addressed and understood. Clinician will also provide mental health consultation to other KCSL Prevention & Community Service programs within the community.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Mental Health Intervention & Treatment 65%
The Clinical Specialist’s primary responsibility will be to provide intervention and treatment services based on an initial assessment for each family referred or requesting service. The Specialist will use a holistic approach in working with families, incorporating a family systems model which includes human development, cognitive behavioral, systems, early childhood, and attachment theories. Assessment and treatment goal planning will be used, and will emphasize solution-focused interventions, with emphasis on cultural issues within the family. Treatment planning for the client may require ongoing communication and collaboration with other professionals outside the agency involved in the treatment. Supporting the family to develop community resources as needed. Careful attention to documentation of all treatment services to meet state requirements and standards for best practice. Agency works on a fee for service model which requires a certain level of billable hours per month by each clinician.

Consultation 20%
The Clinical Specialist will provide mental health consultation to program colleagues and other community agencies providing direct client services. The Specialist will, on occasion, be asked to provide informational/educational presentations to KCSL staff, other professionals, and community groups regarding mental health clinical services.

Clinical Supervision and Team Meetings 10%
The Specialist will meet regularly with the clinical supervisor for individual clinical and administrative supervision. The Specialist will also participate in regular Team meetings to discuss general program information, receive in-service training and engage in discussions involving clinical work and strategies. Specialist will also attend and participate in agency meetings.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Required:
  • MS in Human Services Field
  • Holds a current clinical license issued by the Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board
  • Knowledge of infant, child, adult and family life development
  • Knowledge of DSM diagnostic procedure
  • Intervention skills that foster individual and family growth
Preferred:
  • Experience in home-based service delivery
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary teams

Employees and their dependents are eligible for coverage the first of the month following 30 days of employment. Dependent children are eligible for coverage to age 24.
