The Family Engagement and Fatherhood Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and implementing the Fatherhood Initiative in Geary County and the Family Engagement project for the Early Childhood Block Grant in Sedgwick County and the Kinship Navigator program in Sedgwick County. The Coordinator is required to develop successful collaborations and partnerships with agencies, mental health centers, churches, schools and business leaders in the communities who provide services and support to families. The focus of the work is to strengthen families and promote the five protective factors and the essentials for childhood.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
The Coordinator is responsible for conducting fatherhood activities in Geary County. Activities include the Circle of Parents Fatherhood Networking Group, Fatherhood Cafe, the Fatherhood Advisory Council training and the Fatherhood Advisory Council. The Coordinator will assist in conducting the Father Friendly Checkup training and provide direct line work with the Healthy Start partners on a quarterly basis in their work in fatherhood.
The Coordinator is responsible for conducting the Family Engagement Program with the early childhood program partners in Sedgwick County. The work focus will include developing partnerships with the early childhood program partners who serve children 0- 5 years of age, and implementing and providing parent engagement/leadership program activities. Activities will include Parent Cafes, Circle of Parents Networking group and establishing the Parent Leadership Advisory Council.
The Coordinator is responsible for providing services and support to kinship families raising children who are not in state custody. The focus of the work is to connect kinship families to an array of services and support in the Wichita community. Collaboration with community entities such as schools, mental health, social services and other agencies is an important part of the job functions of this position.
Fatherhood Job Duties
Implement the Fatherhood Networking Group
and Fatherhood Caf 15%
Respond to requests for information, speaking engagements, the media, possible members, professionals, and any inquiries regarding the Fatherhood Networking Group and Fatherhood Cafe. Develop and facilitate the Fatherhood Networking Group and conduct the Fatherhood Cafe. Provide initial training for the Parent leader who will co-facilitate the Fatherhood Networking Group, and provide monthly supervision. Conduct required program evaluations.
Support for the Fatherhood Advisory Council 5%
Develop, train and provide on-going assistance to the Fatherhood Advisory Council. Provide current fatherhood information from the National and State level. Provide any guidance or direction which has been requested by the Fatherhood Advisory Council.
Father Friendly Checkup Training
and Agency/Partners Consultation 5%
Assist the Circle of Parents/Parent Leadership Supervisor with conducting the Father Friendly Checkup training and consultation with the Geary County Healthy Start partners.
Family Engagement Job Duties
Parent Cafes and Circle of Parents Networking Group 30%
Implement and conduct the Parent Cafes and the Circle of Parents Networking Group with the parents who are being provided services through the early childhood program partners and agencies that provide services to parents of children 0-5 years of age. Conduct all required program evaluations.
Parent Leadership Advisory Council 10%
Develop, train and provide on-going assistance to the Parent Leadership Advisory Council. Provide current parenting information on the five protective factors and essentials for childhood. Provide any guidance or direction which has been requested by the Parent Leadership Advisory Council. Conduct all required program evaluations.
Data Collection 5%
Collect all required evaluation data on the Fatherhood Program and the Parent Engagement Program. All data information is forwarded to the Parents Helping Parents/Parent Leadership Supervisor.
Kinship Navigator Coordinator
Assessments Activities 5%
Assess the child and the family to determine the strengths and needs of the family. Develop a strength-based service plan, and connect the family to the identified resources to help the child remains in the kinship home.
Case Management Activities 15%
Provides ongoing case management services to ensure child will remain in the home. Make referrals to community agencies and monitor the progression and effectiveness of the service plan.
Other Job Functions 5%
- Present on agency services and give agency tours.
- Help with Child Abuse Prevention Awareness Campaign, Governors Conference on the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect and the Parent Leadership Conference.
- Serve on various internal and external committees.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
