Job Location: Garden City, Kansas
Job Type: Full-Time

JOB SUMMARY

Pick-up and deliver children daily and oversee maintenance of the bus.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

PROVIDE TRANSPORATION 80%

Pick-up and deliver the Children safely.

Plan and utilize the most efficient bus route.

Transport for field trips or socializations as needed.

Interact with children and parents

Follow Head Start guidelines requiring at least 3 bus evacuations annually

MAINTENANCE 10%

Perform daily and scheduled maintenance on the bus.

Clean and sanitize the bus daily.

TRAINING 5%

Attend All Staff meetings.

Participate in any training or conferences as requested

Attend monthly bus driver training

NONESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

OTHER DUTIES 5%

Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

PHYSICAL AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Work Environment Bus and meeting rooms.

Lifting Requirement 50 Pounds

Travel Requirements Extensive

Other Pass DOT physical; pass TB skin test; valid drivers license; current CDL with passenger endorsement and school bus endorsements; reliable transportation; current auto insurance; pass all required background checks.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required

Commercial Drivers License, Class A, B, or C with passenger and school bus endorsements.

Defensive driving course

First-Aid certificate/Infant Child CPR

12 hours behind the wheel: 6 hours with students and 6 hours without students

High School Diploma or equivalent

Preferred

Two years experience in an Early Childhood Program.

Mandated Reporter

All KCSL employees are mandated reporters of child abuse and neglect. Failure to properly report to DCF and the supervisor can result in disciplinary actions up to and including termination. See Mandated Reporter Policy in the Employee Handbook for details.
