Job Description:
Manage, direct and implement the development of new products / materials, wear resistant coatings, and processes based on fundamental research. The new products include sintered or hot pressed cemented carbides, ceramics, cermets, metal matrix & ceramic matrix composites, thermal spray powders, PTA powders, wear coatings, rapidly solidified metals, wear resistant steels etc. Material applications include wear, erosion, corrosion, drilling, rock cutting and thermal management. Process development includes manufacturing of cast cemented carbides, PTA & thermal spray powder blends, welding, brazing, foundry technology, pressing and sintering. Manage analysis of competitive technologies / products and develop strategies for new products. Must interface with customers, vendors, and universities in joint development activities.
Experience and Skills:
Must have demonstrated technical expertise and leadership in areas of wear resistant coatings, thermal spray / PTA applications, powder metallurgy, wear resistant alloys, weld overlays etc. Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills. Applicant should have a PhD in materials engineering with eight years or MS / BS degree with 10 years of relevant experience. Must have prior experience in roles requiring significant customer contact.
