Successful candidates for the Instrumentation / Electrical Technician role will be responsible for specification, installation, testing and repair of all types of electrical and electronic equipment used in the operation of crude and refined products pipelines. Qualified candidates must be able to make sound economic decisions, ensure incident prevention, drive predictable execution and achieve competitive results.

Responsibilities:
  • Specify, install and program all types of PLC, flow computer and other metering and communication equipment, work on motors, valves, actuators, meters, transmitters and complete required documentation
  • Line locating, measurements, regulator equipment inspections and other duties required for daily pipeline operations
  • Read and interpret blueprints and understand and apply the National Electrical Code

Work Experience, Skills and Education Required
  • Highly motivated and able to work independently while using good judgment
  • Use critical thinking skills to solve problems
  • General mechanical, maintenance, and electrical skills
  • Computer Knowledge: Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and proprietary database
  • Communicate effectively
  • Valid driver`s license
  • Two year Technical Degree (electrical), or currently enrolled in a technical degree program (electrical) OR high school diploma plus two years of related experience
Work Experience, Skills and Education Preferred
  • One year of experience working on all types of industrial electrical and electronic equipment including but not limited to motors, valves, actuators, meters, transmitters, flow computers and PLC equipment.
  • Candidates with five or more years of instrumentation and electrical experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Field experience in the pipeline, oil & gas or chemical industry
  • Knowledge of Omni Flow Computers and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC).
  • OSHA and NFPA 70E experience
  • Understand and apply the National Electrical Code

Other Considerations
  • Frequently lifts, carries, or otherwise moves and positions equipment
  • Frequently works in hot, cold, or inclement climate conditions
  • Frequently climbs ladders and stairs to reach equipment
  • Position requires the ability to be on-call on a rotational basis and to respond to calls 24/7 for emergency response
  • Position requires travel of up to 25%
  • Position requires the ability to wear a respirator and to pass a respirator fit test
  • Position requires the ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Position requires the ability to respond to assigned assets within 30 minutes
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check, DOT drug screen, and pre-hire HAZWOPER physical
