The Director of Aviation Maintenance collaborates with the compliance and operations groups as well as company pilots to optimize safety, processes, training, records, budgets, scheduling and more.

The position is primarily management-focuseddeveloping and communicating the team vision, and motivating each maintenance technician to advance the groups standards for timely and dependable service. Responsibilities also include directly performing aircraft maintenance approximately 25 percent of the time.

This role is based in Wichita, Kansas but includes coordination and planning with an additional aviation maintenance team in Atlanta, Georgia. Travel is limited. Roles and Responsibilities

  • Ensure that Company aircraft are maintained in a safe and airworthy condition that meets or exceeds all applicable standards and regulations.
  • Optimize aircraft dispatch reliability and operational availability.
  • Responsible for the administration of the maintenance program for a 7 aircraft fleet.
  • Assist with preparation of the annual operating budget
  • Manage maintenance programs, planning, and provide oversight of inspections, repairs, and modifications.
  • Ensure continued airworthiness as defined by FAA by effectively managing permanent records, maintenance tracking program, and regulatory and manufacturers technical data for assigned aircraft.
  • Ensure compliance with all internal Company policies and procedures.
  • Lead and develop aviation maintenance programs to deliver on safety, quality, reliability, and customer service using industry best practices such as IS-BAO and Safety Management Systems.
    Provide leadership and development of the aviation maintenance team through continuous improvement initiatives and employee development plans.
  • Ensure that all planned staffing activities occur, including hiring, promotion, development, and succession.
    Perform maintenance, preventive maintenance and inspections that conform to the standards established by the Company, regulations, and industry best practices to achieve the highest reliability goals.
  • Ensure timely scheduling of maintenance with the least impact on flight schedules and optimal aircraft availability and dispatch reliability.
    Obtain vendor proposals and maintain business relationships.

Work Experience/Skills & Education REQUIRED

  • Minimum of ten years experience in direct aircraft maintenance repair, inspection and modification.
  • 3 + years supervision of aircraft maintenance technicians.
  • Hold a current Airframe & Powerplant certificate and an Inspection Authorization (IA).
  • Have broad knowledge of and experience with the maintenance of corporate aircraft.
  • High School diploma.
  • Valid Drivers license.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organization skills.
  • Proven analytical and problem solving ability.
  • Strong business acumen, collaborative leadership style, and project management skills.
  • Able to create and change documents and information in Microsoft: Outlook, Word, Excel and Power Point.
Work Experience/Skills & Education PREFERRED
  • Have broad knowledge of and experience with the maintenance of Challenger 300 and Learjet 45 aircraft.
  • A&P Technical School Education
  • Bachelor Degree
Physical Demands/Unusual Working Conditions
  • Lift a minimum of 50 pounds
  • Climb ladders and stands
  • Work in hot and cold environments
  • Travel approximately 2-4 weeks/year
