Mechanical Engineer-TX Gulf Coast - 015094
Description Title: Mechanical Engineer-TX Gulf Coast Location: Corpus Christi, TX About Flint Hills Resources: Flint Hills Resources (www.fhr.com), is an independent refining and chemicals company. The company has expanded its operations through capital projects and acquisitions worth more than $5.3 billion since 2002. Its refineries and ethanol plants produce fuels that power much of Texas, the Midwest and the Alaska interior. Its petrochemicals are used to manufacture goods such as plastics, building products and packaging materials. Its asphalt is used in communities across the Midwest and Alaska. The base oils it markets are the principle raw material used to produce premium motor oil, commercial lubricants and sealants and coatings. Responsibilities:
- Improve the refinery competitive position via EH&S risk reduction, sustainable compliance programs and optimized process machinery availability
- Maximize availability and utilization of process machinery at the optimum cost
- Proactively provide the production team with sound technical advice and condition assessments to optimize the total life cycle cost for process machinery
Expectations:
- Ensure safety and environmental excellence is a key part of the FHR business process through the integration of safety, environmental and reliability based thinking into all asset management decisions regarding process machinery
- Ensure Machinery Reliability Technical Group alignment with organizational risk profile while supporting our customers needsshared ownership of risks
- Understand the objectives of our customers
- Support customers through identification of continuous improvement of process machinery and support systems
- Generate and maintain life cycle scorecards for process machinery, (centrifugal pumps and mechanical seal)
- Provide technical advice that properly frames the bet to customers, with options as needed to support safe, environmentally responsible and profitable decision making
- Develop and provide new training to customers and peers as needed
- Own and maintain the mechanical seal alliance
- Ensure all programs have adequate procedures, metrics and audit functions in place to meet the refinery`s vision
- Assist and lead when appropriate, root cause failure analysis on high impact failures, repeat failures, or when requested by customers
- Maintain machinery standards.
Work Experience & Skills Required:
- Less than 2 years of experience
Work Experience & Skills Preferred:
- Expeirence in manufacturing, process operations, or heavy industrial market
- Previous internship or work experience in reliability/maintenance/facilities engineering
- Demonstrated work experience or knowledge of mechanical/rotating equipment
Education Required: - Undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering from an ABET-accredited program OR must be completeing an undergraduate degree in engineering within the next 6 months
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
This role is subject to the Transportation Workers Identification Credentialing rule or "TWIC" and requires the successful candidate to obtain a TWIC identification badge, allowing for unescorted access to the facility within a specific time period.
