INVISTA`s Performance Surfaces & Materials business is currently seeking a Strategic Account Manager (SAM) for Arizona, Riverside and San Bernardino Counties in Southern CA. The position will be home-based in Phoenix and requires a minimum of 40-50% overnight travel.
Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for developing the STAINMASTER brand flooring business in the above mentioned markets. The selected candidate will be responsible for the profitability of aligned retailers, driving market share and volume, including increasing the number of customers; developing and executing strategic account plans; comprehensive knowledge of the STAINMASTER carpet portfolio and knowledge of the key benchmarks not only in the brands good/better/best selling system but also in the competitive marketplace. Additional responsibilities include: placement and growth of specific STAINMASTER carpet fiber platforms; recruiting and maintaining retailers to the STAINMASTER aligned retailer network, including the STAINMASTER FLOORING CENTER and STAINMASTER SHOWCASESM retailer programs. The selected individual will also be required to stay current on market trends and economic indicators (housing starts, population and commerce growth, flooring advertising, et al) in the Demographic Marketing Areas (DMAs) within the assigned territory. Job functions include but are not limited to the following: - Develop and optimize relationships with relevant flooring manufacturers to place product and drive growth.
- Translate corporate growth strategies into actionable plans, which yield STAINMASTER flooring profitable growth and increased market share.
- Training Store Owners and Retailer Sales Associates (RSA) on product and selling techniques. Educate the retail network about online tools and information from STAINMASTER Carpet.
- Balance time and travel schedule in the assigned territory to maximize the number of touch points with aligned retailers.
- Stay current on industry trends, competitive landscape and market intelligence
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills writing, presentations, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
- Work independently.
Skills & Experience Required: - At least 5 years of outside sales experience, including building up the customer base in assigned market.
- At least 3 years of experience in cold calling, able to quickly build rapport with customers, understand needs and identify decision makers.
- Understanding of the pull-through marketing business model and the challenges associated with this model.
- Demonstrated ability to think economically and make good judgments when setting priorities and finding new business opportunities.
- Entrepreneurial takes ownership for generating results in the assigned territory and can overcome obstacles to business growth.
- Dedicated space to maintain a home office
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite including Excel (spreadsheet creation/ editing, pivot tables, formula creation, etc.), PowerPoint (Presentation creation/editing), and Word (creating and modifying documents and tables)
- Ability to travel within territory as well as some national travel. Up to 50% overnight travel.
Skills & Experience Preferred: - Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools is an advantage e.g. Salesforce.COM
Education: - A four-year college degree, preferred
