Project Engineer - 015153
Description Flint Hills Resources Renewables is seeking to add a Project Engineer to the growing team at our Fairmont, NE ethanol plant. The Project Engineer will support the regional Project Manager and Innovation Leader with various projects at the plant. If selected, your project leadership will demonstrate a solid commitment to all aspects of the environmental health and safety, an ability to communicate effectively, and a willingness to be adaptive to change. Job Description and Duties: - Working with project sponsors to develop objectives and project scopes
- Develop and own the Project Execution Plan and Construction Execution Plan
- Develop and own the project budget or Authorization for Expenditure (AFE)
- Execute expense and capital projects ranging from $50M to $2MM
- Assist regional project managers in execution of large capital projects, with exposure to executing large capital projects commensurate with capabilities
- Reviewing contractor deliverables, including safety and quality and resolving technical issues during scope development, design, and construction.
- Assisting the Innovation Leader with the management of project planning, including resource-loaded scheduling.
- Leading the project management delivery system (PMG), in addition to serving as the site level subject matter expert for PMG best practices.
- Participating as a member of the Site Leadership Team, assisting in the development of plant vision and maximizing plant performance.
Physical Demands or Unusual Working Conditions: While performing the essential duties of this position, the Team Member will be exposed to moving, mechanical parts, dusty conditions, high noise levels, internal and external temperature/weather conditions, and chemicals. Specific physical requirements include: - Physical ability to work around and on industrial equipment, including frequent climbing of stairs and ladders to to 200 feet.
- Willingness to work around dust, chemicals, and other substances.
- Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated areas (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, heeled boots and hearing protection)
- Ability to respond to and support emergency issues on a 24/7 basis.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background check, drug screen, and physical.
Work Experience and Skills Required: - 3+ years project management or construction management experience working in a heavy industrial operating facility (e.g. Refining, Chemical, Mining, or Power Plant)
- General knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations for both construction and manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity utilizing software programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, Project and/or Primavera.
- A valid driver`s license
Work Experience and Skills Preferred: - Experience working within a stage-gated project management process
- Experience with practical application of PSM requirements, including Management of Chance and Pre-Startup Safety Review
Education Required: - Bachelor`s degree in an engineering field
Education Preferred: - Bachelor`s degree in Mechanical, Chemical or Electrical engineering
Other Considerations: - Up to 10% travel required
