The Global Application Development Engineer will lead the specification and positioning of INVISTAs Engineering Polymers (EP), specifically focused in Automotive or Electrical and Electronics market or Consumer or Oil & Gas markets. We are seeking a person with hands-on experience in designing and validating new materials in either these market spaces.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and educate team on product positioning strategy.
  • Knowledge leader - Lead and build a deep knowledge base in various Automotive or Electronics market systems and their components and identify fit for Nylon 66.
  • Develop and implement a strategy around Short-term, mid-term, and long-term vision around participation in key power train components which matches INVISTAs capability and long term vision.
  • Lead tear down analysis, identify validation partners, tooling requirements, and test labs to prove concepts.
  • Lead mold flow analysis and validate with actual molding results to identify areas of fit, gaps, and improvements needed.
  • Translate Customer Needs (CTQs) into Product Attributes to enable Rapid Product Development. Own the Technical contacts at key customers.
  • Lead the specification activities related to the above market segments.
  • Own and drive Application Development with 10,000% compliance.
  • Flawless leadership of technical programs with new and share-shift applications from start to finish - ensure that all internal validation testing (and where possible mold flow analysis) results show the maximum possible chance of success on large part molding and validations.
  • Program management and flawless execution of new/share-shift opportunities identified that generate the maximum value (NIAT) for INVISTA.
  • Act globally by coordinating with marketing, commercial and technology teams while functioning locally.
  • Lead specification activities for INVISTA EP.
  • Build a deep knowledge base of the focused market segments/systems and components within the INVISTA team, and validate INVISTAs offerings in this segment.
  • Identify, develop, build relationships, and lead validation efforts with select validation partners in focus applications.
  • Full training session in Chattanooga plant/laboratory.
  • 10,000% Compliance - Understand, Internalize and Implement compliance actions with a focus on intellectual properties and contracts/agreements while dealing with 3rd parties and validation partners.

In all areas of responsibilities must have:

  • Strong communication skills and proven success in communicating effectively with all levels.
  • Initiative and ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
  • Strong technical aptitude to understand specification requirements and applications.
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiating skills, strong integrity and ethical behavior.
  • Good economic thinking skills with a high level of customer focus and motivation.
  • Strong team player with the ability to also work independently.

Experience and Skill Required:

  • Masters Degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Polymer, Plastic, Electrical Engineering or Material Science or a related field or a Bachelors degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Polymer, Plastic, Electrical Engineering or Material Science or a related field with at least three years of industry experience.
  • Experience with application development.

Experience and Skills Preferred:

  • Experience applying mold-flow analysis in designing articles and tools.
  • Experience designing parts using finite element analysis (FEA).
  • Experience working in a start-up business environment.
  • 3+ years of experience working with PA66.
  • 5+ years of experience working in Application Development capacity at Resin suppliers and/or Automotive Tiers and/or OEMs.
