Description
Flint Hills Resources LLC is seeking a Grain Receiving Tech at our ethanol plant in Menlo, IA. Successful candidate will be responsible for operating the grain scales and the computer system, weighing incoming and outgoing truck shipments, grading corn, and recording data accurately.
JOB DESCRIPTION & DUTIES:
Typical responsibilities will include:
- Establish effective working relationships with customers
- Set up batches for the day (corn, co-products)
- Operate grain receiving system
- Operate grain probe to obtain corn samples from trucks
- Perform grading of the sample (moisture, FM, test weight, damage)
- Enter customer information into computers and weigh trucks (inbound, outbound for corn and co-products)
- Daily communication with customers - external and internal
- Daily batch transactions
- Housekeeping in scale room
WORK EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIRED:

- Grain elevator experience
EDUCATION REQUIRED:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
PHYSICAL DEMANDS or UNUSUAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
While performing the essential duties of this position, the Team Member will be exposed to moving, mechanical parts, dusty conditions, high noise levels, internal and external temperature/weather conditions, and exposed to chemicals. Specific Physical requirements include:
- Physical ability to work around and on industrial equipment, including frequent climbing, stooping, reaching, pulling, pushing, twisting, bending, kneeling, crawling and grasping. Standing for extended periods of time, walking up to one (1) mile per day, and data entry while seated for greater than one (1) hour.
- Ability to lift, push and pull up to 50 lbs occasionally and 30 lbs frequently (unassisted)
- Ability to work in confined spaces and climb several flights of stairs and ladders up to 200 feet
- Exposure to environmental conditions (frequently walking in and outdoors) with exposure to extreme cold and warm temperatures from -20 to +100 degrees
- Must be willing to work around dust, chemicals, and other substances
- Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated areas (Hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, heeled boots and hearing protection)
- Ability to work overtime as needed
