Process Engineer - 016312
Description Flint Hills Resources Renewables, LLC is looking for a Process Engineer to work at our Iowa Falls, Iowa ethanol plant. The successful candidate will drive process improvement initiatives of existing operations as well as new processes. This position will be expected to take a leading role in key plant improvement projects, work with process personnel and provide production input regarding key strategic projects. Responsibilities include: - Review technical performance of the plant and make recommendations to the plant manager.
- Evaluate equipment with respect to performance and efficiencies. Recommend new equipment where necessary. Make recommendations for repair and replacement of equipment, and evaluate results.
- Participate and lead in the facility wide PSM program (MOC, PHA, Process Safety Information, Operating Procedures, Operating Limits, etc.)
- Develop capital project justifications and lead small site projects.
- Responsible for all technical aspects of the ethanol plant including reviewing and monitoring all key performance indicators, and monitoring efficiencies of all equipment.
- Play a lead role in site safety systems such as PSSR (pre-start-up safety reviews), PHA`s (process hazard analysis) and Incident Investigations as required.
- Provide technical support to operating teams for the daily operation of assigned chemical processes.
- Lead key Operational Excellence projects to support the site goals.
- Responsible for the improvement and optimization of operations.
Work Experience and Skills Required: - Effective communicator. Must be able to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical customers (internal and external).
- Proven ability to troubleshoot, perform root-cause analysis and develop corrective action strategies
- 3+ years of process engineering experience
Work Experience and Skills Preferred: - 3+ years related experience in the ethanol or petrochemical industry
Education Required: - Bachelor degree or higher in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
Education Preferred: - Bachelor`s degree in Chemical Engineering
Other Considerations: While performing the essential duties of this position, the Team Member will be exposed to moving, mechanical parts, dusty conditions, high noise levels, internal and external temperature/weather conditions, and chemicals. Specific physical requirements include: - Physical ability to work around and on industrial equipment, including frequent climbing of stairs and ladders to to 200 feet.
- Willingness to work around dust, chemicals, and other substances.
- Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated areas (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, heeled boots and hearing protection)
- Ability to respond to and support emergency issues on a 24/7 basis.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background check, drug screen, and physical.
- May require travel (with overnight stays) up to 10% of the time
